Hechos 1 Acts 1

¿qué hacen aquí mirando al cielo? Este mismo Jesús, que ha sido llevado de entre ustedes al cielo, vendrá otra vez de la misma manera que lo han visto irse. Hechos 1:11

Con la misma certeza que Cristo fue colgado en la cruz, sabemos que él está sentado en el trono de Dios gobernando toda la creación ahora. Me gusta pensar en la identidad positiva del Cristo en el séptimo cielo con la del Cristo en el lugar mas profundo de la angustia. El Cristo que fu esculpido por la gente es el mismo Cristo a quien cantan los himnos en el cielo sin parar los querubines y serafines, en el cielo donde no hay noche sino día todo el tiempo. Cristo fue azotado por la gente. Ahora los principados y potestades están a sus pies y su deleite es echar sus coronas a ellos.

Píenselo esta mañana y ponte contento: y no te quedes mirando al cielo buscando un mito o sueño. Jesús vive; vives también. No pierdas tiempo como si no tuvieras nada que hacer o como si el reino de Dios hubiese acabado porque Jesús se ha ido de la tierra, en cuanto a su presencia corporal. Todo no se ha terminado, Ēl sigue vivo y te ha dejado una tarea hasta que Ēl venga. Entonces ir y haced.

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11

As surely as he did hang upon the cross, so surely does he, the self-same man, sit upon the throne of God and reign over creation. I like to think of the positive identity of the Christ in the seventh heaven with the Christ in the lowest deeps of agony. The Christ they spat upon is now the Christ whose name the cherubim and seraphim are hymning day without night. The Christ they scourged is he before whom principalities and powers delight to cast their crowns.

Think of it and be glad this morning; and do not stand gazing up into heaven after a myth or a dream. Jesus lives; mind that you live also. Do not loiter as if you had nothing at all to do, or as if the kingdom of God had come to an end because Jesus is gone from the earth, as to his bodily presence. It is not all over; he still lives, and he has given you a work to do till he comes. Therefore, go and do it.
