¡Ponte Alegre! Get Happy!

“You shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your gates, the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are among you, at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide [1]
Deuteronomy 16:11

I’m reading Deuteronomy as part of my devotional time and I noticed this morning that when God mentions the different feasts that the people had to attend, He says that they are to rejoice there. The feasts were to be happy times; times of celebration. Times to remember what God had done and to remember who God is were to be very important for the people. May it be the same for us as we go to worship the Lord this weekend. Last Saturday I mentioned that it’s so important to prepare ourselves for worship. One important part of that preparation is to get ready to celebrate. Put on a happy face before you get to church, more importantly, put on a happy heart!
