Estad Quietos Be Still

Quienquiera que desee detenerse a escuchar oirán hablar del cielo. Esta no es la hora en que los hombres están dispuestos a escuchar, porque el escuchar no es parte de la religión popular de hoy en día. Nos encontramos en el polo opuesto. La religión ha aceptado la monstruosa herejía de que el ruido, el tamaño, la actividad y el estrépito hacen estimable al ser humano delante de Dios. A un pueblo que se está sumido en un clima de violencia*, Dios le dice, “Estad quietos, y conoced que yo soy Dios.” (Salmo 46:10) Hoy en día Dios quiere que aprendamos que nuestra fortaleza y seguridad no dependen del ruido, sino del silencio. Creo yo, que después de haber leído el texto en Ingles, la frase sería mejor traducida así… “A un pueblo que se encuentra en la tempestad del gran conflicto final”

Whoever will listen will hear the speaking of Heaven. This is definitely not the hour when men take kindly to an exhortation to listen, for listening is not today a part of popular religion. We are at the opposite end of the pole from there. Religion has accepted the monstrous heresy that noise, size, activity and bluster make a man dear to God. But we may take heart. To a people caught in the tempest of the last great conflict God says, `Be still, and know that I am God,' (Ps 46:10) and still He says it, as if He means to tell us that our strength and safety lie not in noise but in silence.
