El Nombre Del Señor The Name Of The Lord

Proverbios 18:10

And the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord
Leviticus 24:11

Read Leviticus 24:10-23

In this passage we see that a man has blasphemed the name of God. The passage mentions his mothers’ name, his grandfathers’ name and even his ancestors’ name which was Dan. What’s interesting is that we don’t have a single record of his name. I think that the Lord is trying to tell us something here, isn’t he? The word blaspheme means to curse, express, name, pierce or to put holes in. The idea is to allow the name of God or His person to become so commonplace that we can talk about Him without reverence. We don’t even have to thing about who He is while we talk about Him. One example would be to say, “Oh, my God” when we’re not even thinking about Him. I get a little tired of hearing Christians talking about God that way. His name is precious to me.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.”
Exodus 20:7

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
