Tesoros de Tinieblas Treasures of Darkness

“Te daré los tesoros de las tinieblas…” Isaías 45:3

Jamás hubiéramos sospechado que los tesoros fueron escondidos allí, y para poder alcanzarlos tenemos que pasar por cosas que nos dejan perplejos. No hay nada que cansa el ojo más que la luz del sol cuando es constante, y lo mismo sucede cuando se trata de la espiritualidad verdadera. El valle de sombra nos da tiempo para reflexionar, y aprendemos a alabar a Dios por el valle porque en él nuestra alma fue restaurada en su comunión con Dios. Dios nos revela su bondad en el valle de sombra. ¿Cuáles fueron los días que nos permitieron ir más allá? ¿Los días de pastos verdes y reposo absoluto? Esos días tienen su valor, pero los que nos han ayudado más a fortalecer nuestro carácter han sido los días de estrés, los días nublados, los días cuando no podíamos ver nuestro camino y teníamos que permanecer quietos y esperar. Y mientras esperábamos, el consuelo, la restauración y el apoyo de Dios llegaron en una manera que nunca antes imaginamos que era posible. “I will give you the treasures of darkness…” Isaiah 45:3

We would never have suspected that the treasures were hidden there, and in order to get them we have to go through things that involve us in perplexity. There is nothing more wearying to the eye than perpetual sunshine, and the same is true spiritually. The valley of the shadow gives us time to reflect, and we learn to praise God for the valley because in it our soul was restored in its communion with God. God gives us a new revelation of His kindness in the valley of the shadows. What are the days and experiences that have furthered us most? The days of green pastures, of absolute ease? No, They have their value: but the days that have furthered us the most in character are the days of stress and cloud, the days when we could not see our way but had to stand still and wait, and as we waited, the comforting and sustaining and restoring of God came in a way we never imagined possible before… Oswald Chambers, “The Place of Help.” P. 84
