Discípulos Superficiales Superficial Disciples

Éxodo 28:3
“Y tú hablarás a todos los sabios de corazón, a quienes yo he llenado de espíritu de sabiduría, para que hagan las vestiduras de Aarón, para consagrarle para que sea mi sacerdote.”

Hechos 6:3
“Buscad, pues, hermanos, de entre vosotros a siete varones de buen testimonio, llenos del Espíritu Santo y de sabiduría, a quienes encarguemos de este trabajo.”

Efesios 5:18
“No os embriaguéis con vino, en lo cual hay disolución; antes bien sed llenos del Espíritu,”

A través de toda la Biblia vemos que Dios no estaba muy interesado en la cantidad de talento que poseía el hombre. No le importaba mucho a Dios si era muy inteligente o cual era su trasfondo. Dios estaba, y está más interesado en ver si el hombre es suficientemente humilde a recibir el Espíritu de Dios. Para poder recibir el Espíritu de Dios tenemos que entender que no podemos hacer lo necesario con nuestra propia fuerza o al poner nuestro propio empeño. No somos suficientemente inteligentes para poder hacer lo que Dios quiere. Nuestro talento no logrará un cambio espiritual. La sabiduría humana no entiende lo que será importante al largo plazo según la opinión de Dios.

Es verdad que los hombres han podido hacer muchas cosas que parecen ser grandes y han hecho estas cosas sin el Espíritu de Dios. Algunas de las iglesias más grandes son iglesias donde no dan la bienvenida al Espíritu. No lo permiten ministrar.

Cuando nosotros estamos más contentos es cuando el Espíritu se entristece más a veces. ¿Por qué digo así? ¿Por qué soy una persona negativa? No. Es porque hemos comenzado a confiar en el número de personas o en el “programa exitoso” en vez de confiar en Dios. Ya no estamos haciendo discípulos que puedan confiar en Dios y ser usados por él. No les interesa cargar su cruz y seguir a Cristo. Estamos haciendo cristianos que están más interesados en el “espíritu del movimiento” que en el Espíritu de Dios. Quiero que me entiendan. No estoy tratando de meterme con las iglesias grandes. Lo mismo puede pasar en una iglesia pequeña como la nuestra. En la iglesia pequeña el problema muchas veces es que la gente no confía en el Espíritu Santo tampoco. Las personas ya establecidas en la iglesia están muy satisfechas y prefieren dejar las cosas como están. No quieren muchos cambios. Si llegan personas nuevas a la iglesia entonces tienen que conversar con estas personas desconocidas y no quieren. Otra cosa es, si llegan personas nuevas les van a quitar el tiempo que hablan con el pastor. No quieren eso. Se sienten tan cómodos y no quieren compartir las bendiciones del Señor.

Muchas veces he confiado en la sabiduría propia en vez de confiar en el Espíritu y esperar en él. Hoy día quiero estar lleno del Espíritu y quiero que me guíe. Quiero buscar Su reino en vez del mío.


Genesis 41:38
“And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”[1]

Exodus 28:3
“So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.”[2]

Acts 6:3
““Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;”[3]

Ephesians 5:18
“And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,”[4]


All throughout the Bible we see that God wasn’t so concerned about the amount of talent a man had, how intelligent he was or what his background was. He was, and is more concerned with whether or not the man is humble enough to receive the Spirit of God. To receive the Spirit of God we’ve got to realize that we can’t do it on our own. We’re not smart enough to do what God desires. We’re not talented enough to make a spiritual difference. We’re not wise enough to understand what will be important according to God’s point of view. It’s true that men have been able to do what appear to be great things without the Spirit of God. Some of the biggest “churches” are churches where the Spirit of God is not allowed to minister.

Many times the Spirit of God is grieved by what goes on in our churches when we are the happiest. Why do I say this? Is it because I’m a negative person? No. It’s because we’ve begun to trust in the number of people or the successful “program” instead of relying on the Lord. We are no longer making disciples that can trust the Lord and be used by Him. They’re not too interested in carrying the cross and following but they love the show. We’re making superficial Christians that are more interested in the spirit of a movement than the Spirit of God. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not picking on large churches. The same problems can exist in small churches like ours as well. In the small churches the problem is that many times the people don’t trust the Holy Spirit either. They’re content to just leave things the way they are. They don’t want too much change. New people in the church would mean having to actually talk to someone I don’t know. If new people come the pastor won’t spend so much time talking to me. I don’t want that!

So many times I’ve trusted in my own wisdom instead of trusting in and waiting on the Holy Spirit of God. Today, I want to be filled with, and lead by His Spirit. I want to seek His kingdom first rather than my own.
