¿Una Buena Parrillada? A Good Cook Out?

Preparar: 1. Prevenir, disponer o hacer algo con alguna finalidad. 2.

Deuteronomy 11:8

Last week we saw in this blog that as Christians, we have to prepare and offer our bodies as living sacrifices to the Lord. God desires a complete and holy offering of ourselves and so that means we’ve got to take some time each morning to prepare for the daily sacrifice. Putting the article about this topic in the blog really got me thinking about the biblical principle in all this. I thought about the altar and the fact that we have to offer all that we are and have to the Lord. I must confess that I don’t know a lot about cooking but I do like to eat and I’ve learned a few things that are important. For example, if you want to have a great cook out you need to season the meat the day before. If you wait until the last minute you won’t end up with the same delicious flavor throughout that meat. Another thing that’s obvious but needs to be mentioned is, seasoning the meat isn’t everything. You need to prepare the grill, the charcoal or wood, etc. and don’t forget that you need to keep seasoning the meat with a good sauce while it’s cooking, otherwise the meat will end up too dry. So to enjoy a good cook out you have to remember several steps of preparation.

Where am I going with all of this? To a good barbecue joint or to the beach? No. Our life with Christ is like a cookout. The preparation is very important. We want to present our bodies as sacrifices that will be pleasing to the Lord. He deserves the best that we have even though He doesn’t need us. We offer our best because we love Him. Just as a good cookout means correct preparation, in order to offer ourselves to the Lord we prepare ourselves beforehand.

If I want to be prepared to offer my life to God there are certain things I have to do. It’s important to study the Bible and understand biblical principles that give me good counsel, that strengthen me and give me God’s perspective on the issues that I have to face. Studying the Bible under the influence of the Holy Spirit God is able to change a lot of things in my life and heal me of a lot of wounds.

It’s important to know how to share my faith and minister to others too. That requires preparation. I know a lot of Christians who have known the Lord for years. The problem is that they aren’t able to minister to anyone yet. They still need to be ministered too all of the time. We can learn to preach the gospel and minister to others and it’s a way to prepare ourselves for what God has for us.

We’ll be able to be well prepared if we remember that God doesn’t give us time for nothing. Ephesians 5:15-17 says,
“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is”.
[2] Don’t wait until the last minute to prepare yourself. Start today.

God willing, I’ll write some more regarding how we can prepare ourselves for daily life in the next few days or next week
