Isaías 28:13

La palabra, pues, de Jehová les será mandamiento tras mandamiento, mandato sobre mandato, renglón tras renglón, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá; hasta que vayan y caigan de espaldas, y sean quebrantados, enlazados y presos.


Hoy día hay muchos cristianos que no están satisfechos con sus vidas como cristianos. Para ser franco, son ignorantes de la palabra de Dios. Escuchan de un curso maravilloso que dura dos semanas que va a darles las repuestas a todos sus problemas. Así aprenderán como tratar con sus problemas matrimoniales, como convivir con la suegra, como guiar a los hijos correctamente y como llegar a ser empleados ideales. Amigo, déjame decirte algo con toda sinceridad. Ni un curso, ni una experiencia muy emocional solucionarán tus problemas. No existe una manera para atar el camino en la vida cristiana. Hay una sola manera de crecer como cristiano y es tan común, que vacilo en decirlo. La palabra de Dios fue dada a Israel, renglón tras renglón, línea sobre línea, un poquito allí, otro poquito allá. Fue el ajetreo cotidiano de estar en la palabra de Dios. ¿Qué pasó? Israel no llevó a cabo. Cayeron hacía atrás; o sea, se quedaron atrás en cuanto a su relación con Dios. Hay muchos cristianos que se encuentran en las mismas condiciones hoy en día. No es que son más débiles que los demás. Es simplemente que no pasan el tiempo suficiente en la palabra de Dios. Reconozco que este método no es muy emocionante, pero línea sobre línea y reglón tras reglón es el único camino para crecer en la vida cristiana.

“Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little,”
That they might go and fall backward, and be broken
And snared and caught.

There are many Christians today who are not satisfied with their Christian lives. To be brutally frank, they are ignorant of the Word of God. Then they hear about a wonderful two-week course that will give them the answers to all their problems. They will learn how to handle their marital problems, how to get along with their mother-in-law, how to guide their children aright, and how to become model employees. My friend, let me say this to you very candidly. Neither a little course nor some great emotional experience will solve your problems. There is no shortcut to success in the Christian life. There is only one way to grow as a Christian, and it is so commonplace and ordinary that I hesitate to say it. The Word of the Lord was given unto Israel precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, and there a little. It was the daily grind of getting into God’s Word. What happened? Israel did not follow through. They fell backward; that is, they were in a backslidden state. There are many Christians in the same condition today. It is not that they are weaker than anybody else; it is simply that they do not spend enough time in the Word of God. I realize that this method is not very exciting, but line upon line and precept upon precept is the only way you are going to grow in the Christian life.[2]
