Matthew Henry

After being baptized with the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, the Christians went out into the streets praising God in tongues. The unbelievers began to question what was going on and Peter used that opportunity to preach his first sermon. In that sermon he called the people to repentance. Personally I’m grieved to see that so many have either forgotten or never understood the importance of preaching repentance in our world today. I believe we need to hear a message of repentance more than ever, more importantly, we need to live a life of repentance. I love what Matthew Henry said regarding the subject. He said, “Some people do not like to hear much of repentance; but I think it is so necessary that if I should die in the pulpit, I would desire to die preaching repentance, and if out of the pulpit I would desire to die practicing it.”
