Llevando Fruto, Llevando la Cruz, Bearing Fruit, Bearing the Cross

Llevar fruto involucra llevar la cruz. “De cierto, de cierto os digo, que si el grano de trigo no cae en la tierra y muere, queda solo; pero si muere, lleva mucho fruto” (Juan 12:24). Sabemos como el Señor Jesús llegó a ser fructífero-no solo cargando la cruz, sino muriendo en ella. ¿Tenemos mucho compañerismo con él en eso? No hay dos Cristos-un Cristo acomodadizo para cristianos acomodadizos, y un Cristo sufrido y trabajado para los creyentes excepcionales. Hay un solo Cristo. ¿Estás dispuesto a permanecer en él y así llevar fruto?

Que Dios haga el infierno tan real para nosotros para que no descansemos; el cielo tan real para que tengamos hombres allí; Cristo tan real para que nuestro motivo supremo y nuestra meta sea hacer de él, varón de dolores el varón de gozo por la conversión de muchos a él, de los cuales oró diciendo, “Padre, quiero que los que me has dado estén conmigo donde yo estoy. Que vean mi gloria.” (Juan 17:24).

Muchos de nosotros, a veces estamos repugnados por nuestro propio pecado. Queremos terminar con la carne y sus tentaciones ya. Como ha dicho Hudson Taylor, Cristo no solo cargó la cruz sino, murió en ella. Tal vez no hemos llegado al punto de morir todavía pero, ¿la meta de llevar la cruz no es llegar a Calvario? De repente tropezaremos una cuantas veces, seguramente la gente se va a burlar de nosotros y escupirnos en la cara mientras que estamos en camino pero si seguimos cargando la cruz eventualmente llegaremos a Calvario.


Fruit bearing involves cross bearing. “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone.” (John 12:24) We know how the Lord Jesus became fruitful-not by bearing His cross merely, but by dying on it. Do we know much of fellowship with Him in this? There are not two Christ’s-an easygoing one for easygoing Christians, and a suffering, toiling one for exceptional believers. There is only one Christ. Are you willing to abide in Him, and thus bear much fruit?

Would that God would make hell so real to us that we cannot rest; heaven so real that we must have men there; Christ so real that our supreme motive and aim shall be to make the Man of sorrows the Man of Joy by the conversion to Him of many concerning whom He prayed, “Father, I (long) that (those)…whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory.” (John 17:24

Many of us get completely disgusted with our sinful nature at times. We wish that we could be done with our flesh and all its temptations already. As Hudson Taylor points out, Christ didn’t just carry His cross, He died on it. Maybe we haven’t gotten to the point of death but the whole point of carrying our cross is to get to Calvary isn’t it. We may stumble along the way, the people may laugh at us and spit at us too but if we keep carrying the cross, we’ll eventually make it to Calvary.
