John 12:43 “ for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.[1]”
Yesterday I was talking about the false prophets in Micah’s time. They were proclaiming peace when there was to be no peace. God had planned destruction. I mentioned the fact that we are to seek God’s glory and not fear man. So many times we think that we’re really seeking God’s glory by being really patient with a person’s sin when God has already shown us that we have to speak lovingly and firmly with them. We should be speaking with them about repentance instead of peace. Maybe the false prophets prophesied peace because that was what they wanted. Everybody wants peace. Why stir things up? Let’s just hope that the problem will go away all by itself.
Sometimes fearing men instead of fearing God involves worrying about what the impact of our confronting sin will have on the church body. We think that maybe it will be a real downer. Again we see that our focus isn’t in God’s glory. We’re not worried about what God’s opinion is; we’re worried about the people.
Obviously I’m not talking about acting in an unloving way. As we study the prophets we see that they were men that were hard on sin but men of soft hearts. They wept for the people. They took the burden of the people’s sin on themselves but they refused to deny the message that God had called them to proclaim. May we weep for the sins of the people rather than ignore them. May we call people to repentance and hope rather than contaminate them with a watered down message that is incapable of making real change.
Juan 12:43

Micah 3:8 Miqueas 3:8
Micah 3:8
But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, and of justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.[1]
In the previous verses Micah is talking to the judges and leaders of the people. He tells them about their sin. They aren’t living Godly lives and therefore aren’t able to judge with righteous judgment. They aren’t capable of speaking truth because their lives are such a mess. Taking advantage of the void left by the leaders’ inability to speak the truth, the false prophets were spreading lies. They were proclaiming peace even though that wasn’t the word of the Lord. The false prophets were concerned with speaking what the people wanted to hear and the leaders weren’t saying anything! As a result the people had no vision. The people walked and lived in darkness.
We are living the same story today in so many ways. Many pastors no longer proclaim the truth because they don’t fear God. They fear men instead. It’s a trap that is so easy to fall into. I know that God has been dealing with me in the last few days about the importance of seeking His Glory. Seeking His glory means doing what God wants even if I think that it will affect the ministry in an adverse way. I write this knowing that it’s really ridiculous. Instead of weighing out all of the consequences of my decisions in the middle of a political atmosphere I must do what glorifies God. As I write it here it seems so obvious. A pastor would always want to do what God wants instead of what man would pressure him to do. Sin is so subtle. So many times we are doing something or saying something that for many wouldn’t be considered sin but the problem is that we’re not glorifying God. I have decided to seek to glorify God in the decisions I make. That may involve declaring sin and making people feel uncomfortable. It may mean that people will say that I’m judging or that I’m being too hard. I don’t want to worry about what people will think. I don’t care what it will cost me. I hope that you will glorify God as well.
Miqueas 3:8

Noticias Desde Chimbote News from Chimbote
2 Juan 4
2 John 4
4 I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.[1]
A few years ago I was traveling to Chimbote every Friday to teach the Bible. We started the study with a group of people that weren’t Christians. While we studied the Bible each week several of them got to know the Lord. I wasn’t able to continue the Bible study but I heard some news about the people in Chimbote today. The news is that a number of them are doing very well in their relationship with the Lord. They are even sharing their faith with others. Thanks Lord, we see again that your word is still able to change lives.

Caleb
I'm 45 years old but my body is 80. At least that's what I say a lot of times. For that reason I love the book that we're going to study starting this coming Thursday night. Last night we finished Deuteronomy and this Thursday we'll begin the book of Joshua. I love studying the life of Joshua but I like Caleb even more. Caleb is one of my heroes.
Joshua 14:10-12 says, "here I am this day, eighty-five years old. 11"As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. 12"Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said."
Caleb was still excited about winning battles in the Lords name even when he was old. I want to be the same. Let´s go forward in Jesus name!

Gossip El Chisme
Mildred, the church gossip and self-appointed arbiter of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other member's private lives. Church members were unappreciative of her activities, but feared her enough to keep their silence.
She made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his pickup truck parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.
She commented to George and others that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing.
George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny; he said nothing.
Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house...and left it there all night!
No dijo nada.

Deuteronomy Deuteronomio
And of Levi he said:
“Let Your Thummim and Your Urim be with Your holy one,
Whom You tested at Massah,
And with whom You contended at the waters of Meribah,
9 Who says of his father and mother,
‘I have not seen them’;
Nor did he acknowledge his brothers,
Or know his own children;
For they have observed Your word
And kept Your covenant.
10 They shall teach Jacob Your judgments,
And Israel Your law.
They shall put incense before You,
And a whole burnt sacrifice on Your altar.
11 Bless his substance, Lord,
And accept the work of his hands;
Strike the loins of those who rise against him,
And of those who hate him, that they rise not again.”[1]
The Urim and the Thummim was the way that God’s people in the Old Testament were to seek the will of the Lord. Here we see that Moses proclaims a blessing over Levi. This tribe was to be blessed in knowing the will of the Lord and then being able to work out that will in their daily lives. Not having to worry about favoring one person over another in the bad sense of the word, not having to worry about our children, being able to put them into the hands of the Lord, these things are a blessing from God. There is nothing better than knowing that you’re in the place where God wants you and then being able to serve Him wholeheartedly without any reserves. When we’re at that place we don’t have to worry about anything in the world. Help me to remember it Lord.
Señor, ayúdame a recordarlo.

Villa Maria

Luke 18:1, "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,"
Just a reminder to pray for the ministry in Villa Maria each Saturday night. We have the opportunity to preach the gospel to people that would never make it to our building. We will only be able to take advantage of the opportunity if we´re praying.
Here are some pictures of the ministry there this past Saturday.

La reunión dominical en Surco The Sunday meeting in Surco
We had our first Sunday meeting at our new building in Surco today. It was really nice to be able to celebrate communion. Another good thing is that we were able to play the cajón without having to worry about the neighbors. We´re going to get a little better each Sunday. Thanks to everyone that helped in so many ways to make this all possible.

Many thanks to the people from Calvary Chapel Gainesville, Calvary Chapel Venice y Calvary Chapel Lighthouse (Sanford) for your great help. You took out a bathroom, painted walls, installed a hot water heater and a lot of lights, cleaned a lot and did so much more. You got here just when we needed your help. Without you guys we wouldn´t have been able to have our meetings this week.
Pastor Ted,
Thanks for going shopping. God´s going to give you a credit card without a limit in heaven. (Just kidding).
We love you all

Noticias News

Mil disculpas I am really sorry
Sorry for not having written in the last few days. We are all so busy and I havent had the use of a computer in the house for the last few days either. God willing I will be writing again on Monday. Hopefully I will be able to send some pictures too.

Only 10 more days until we will have our first meeting in the new building. We have to be out of our present location and so we don’t have another choice. We have permission to be in this place until Sunday and that’s it. Please pray for us because we have a lot to do yet. We have to finish the roof, paint the room, put the lights, buy the carpet, finish the entrance, move as a family, finish the bathrooms in the apartment (please pray for the plumber, a lot of times he doesn’t show up to work), etc.
