Una de las cosas más difíciles para muchos de nosotros es dejar a Dios definir quienes somos y lo que tenemos que hacer. Aprecio mucho el hecho de que Dios me ha hecho diferente que los demás. Hemos estado viajando visitando muchas iglesias y ha sido de gran gozo ver lo que Dios está haciendo en cada una sin sentir la necesidad de hacer una iglesia “a su nivel o igual” o compararme con los otros pastores. El gran propósito de mi vida es glorificar a Dios y disfrutar de él para siempre. No puedo hacerlo a lo máximo si mi deseo es ser como los demás. Por supuesto, no puedo hacerlo si siempre me comparo con otros. Mientras que pasamos el día hoy, debemos de enfocarnos en escuchar la voz de Dios y dejarle decirle decir a Dios lo que debemos de hacer. No queremos que los demás determinen como debe ser nuestra vida. Queremos agradar a Dios y conocerle mejor hoy día. Para hacerlo necesitamos seguirle a Cristo. No podemos hacerlo siguiendo a la mancha. Mantengamos la fijada hacia arriba. Nuestro llamado es arriba.

One of the toughest things for many of us is to let God define who we are and what we have to do. I appreciate so much the fact that God made me different from others. As I’ve been traveling around to different churches it has been a great joy to see the great things that God is doing in those churches without having to try to live up to them and compare myself to the other pastors. The grand purpose of my life is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. I can’t do that to the fullest while I strive to be like everyone else. I certainly can’t do it if I’m always comparing myself with others. As we live our lives today, let’s focus in on hearing God’s voice and allowing Him to dictate who we are and what we should do. We don’t want our life to be dictated by what others think. We want to please God and know Him better today. To do that, we need to follow Him. We can’t do that following the crowd. God is calling us vertically not horizontally. Let’s look up. Our call is upward.

Man, made in the image of God has a purpose-to be in relationship to God who is there. Man forgets his purpose and thus he forgets who he is and what life means. Francis Schaeffer.

Mentiras, Mentiras, Son Mentiras. Lies, Lies, They're Lies

11 Porque yo sé los pensamientos que tengo acerca de vosotros, dice Jehová, pensamientos de paz, y no de mal, para daros el fin que esperáis. 12 Entonces me invocaréis, y vendréis y oraréis a mí, y yo os oiré;13 y me buscaréis y me hallaréis, porque me buscaréis de todo vuestro corazón. Jeremías 29:11-13 A Satanás, le encanta mentir y una mentira que utiliza Satanás en contra de los cristianos es en cuanto a nuestro futuro. Dice Satanás que todo saldrá mál, que Dios me abandonará o que yo abandonaré a Dios. Si estás luchando con estos pensamientos enviados por Satanás, solo tienes que recordar estas promesas preciosas escritas arriba. Algunos toman versículos 12 y 13 como mandamientos. Yo creo que si, es importante clamar a Dios, orar y buscarle, es importante buscar a Dios de todo corazón. Muchas veces pasamos por problemas, o no recibimos de Dios todo lo que él desea darnos porque no leclamamos, no le buscamos y no escuchamos Su voz, pero hay algo más aquí también. Dios, en su gran misericordia y con su gran amor utiliza las circunstancias, hermanos y hermanas, hasta nuestro pecado para poder traernos más cerca a él. Versículos 12 y 13 no solo son mandemientos sino promesas de Dios a mismo tiempo. Podemos confiar en Dios sabiendo que, si realmente somos sus hijos, en el futuro estaremos más cerca a él que nunca. Escuchar las mentiras de Satanás no es agradable pero tenemos la palabra de Dios y podemos usarla para cobrar ánimo y seguir adelante. 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13 Satan loves to lie and one of the great lies that he tells us as Christians is regarding our future. He tells us that everything will turn out wrong, he tells us that God will abandon us or that we will abandon God. If you're battling with Satan regarding these lies you need only remember the verses written above. Some take verses 12 and 13 as commandments. I believe that they are commandments of God. We are told to call on God, seek Him with all of our hearts. Many times we have problems and don't receive from God everything He has for us because we don't do what God has said, but there's something more here as well. God, in His mercy and great love, uses circumstances, our brothers and sisters and even our own sin to bring us closer to Himself. Verses 12 and 13 aren't just commandments, their promises of God at the same time.

We can trust in God knowing that if we're really His children, we'll be closer to God than ever in the future. Listening to Satan's lies isn't pleasant but we have the word of God and we can use it for encouragement and to help us continue forward.

Dios Está En Todo Lugar God Is Everywhere

Fuimos a una iglesia el domingo que tiene un mapa de todo el mundo. El mapa dice, "Dios está en todo lugar". Es cierto. Me encanta escuchar como Dios está obrando en muchos citios. Muchas veces Dios usa lo que aparentemente ha sido una tragedia para salvar a mucha gente. Un caso es el caso de un pueblito en Alaska. Hubo un incendio hace unos 6 meses y todo el pueblo quedó en las ruinas. Ahora el ministerio de Bolsa del Samaritano (o por lo menos creo que así ha sido traducido), está ministrando a la gente y construyendo casas. Mi cuñado está en Alaska ministrando a la gente. Cuñado, estamos orgullosos de ti. Bien Hecho. Hemos escuchado de los adolescentes, jovenes y adultos que han recibido a Cristo en los últimos meses. Estamos orando por ustedes y ellos también.

We went to a church on Sunday that has a map of the world. The map says, "God is everywhere". It's true. I love to hear how God is working in so many places. Many times He is taking was seemed to be a tragedy and using it to bring salvation to so many people. One case is what happened in a little town in Alaska. There was a fire that destroyed the town about 6 months ago. Now the Samaritan's Purse ministry is ministering to the people and rebuilding houses. My brother in law is their ministering. Luther, we're proud of you. Good job. We've heard of the teenagers, children and adults that have received Christ in the last few months. We're praying for you and the people as well.

Matthew Henry

Después de recibir el bautismo del Espíritu Santo en Hechos 2, los cristianos salieron a la calle a alabando a Dios en lenguas. Personalmente estoy entristecido porque muchos se han olvidado o nunca han entendido la importancia del arrpentimiento en el mundo de hoy. Creo que necesitamos escuchar de él más que nunca, más importante todavía, necesitamos vivir una vida de arrepentimiento. Me encanta lo que dijo, Matthew Henry hablando del tema. Henry dijo, “Algunos no les gusta escuchar del arrepentimiento; pero yo creo que es tan necesario que si yo me muero en el púlpito, mi deseo será morir predicando del arrepentimiento y si me muero fuera de él, mi deseo será morir practicandolo.” After being baptized with the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, the Christians went out into the streets praising God in tongues. The unbelievers began to question what was going on and Peter used that opportunity to preach his first sermon. In that sermon he called the people to repentance. Personally I’m grieved to see that so many have either forgotten or never understood the importance of preaching repentance in our world today. I believe we need to hear a message of repentance more than ever, more importantly, we need to live a life of repentance. I love what Matthew Henry said regarding the subject. He said, “Some people do not like to hear much of repentance; but I think it is so necessary that if I should die in the pulpit, I would desire to die preaching repentance, and if out of the pulpit I would desire to die practicing it.”

La Nieve Snow

Cuando me desperté esta mañana estabamos con -2.22 grados de temperatura aquí en Boone, Carolina del Norte. Que rico clima. Que refrescante. Ayer mis hijos vieron la nieve en la mañana y estan muy contentos por eso. Marco estaba orando para poder ver la nieve hace dos semanas ya. Dios es bueno. When I woke up this morning the temperature was a steady 28 degrees here in Boone, North Carolina. What great weather. It's so refreshing. My children saw snow yesterday morning and so they're so happy for that. Marco was praying for two weeks to see snow. God is good.

Fuimos a la iglesia esta mañana donde un amigo esta pastoreando y compartimos un poco acerca de la obra en El Perú. Ha sido bueno estar en diferentes iglesias, todas con su propia identidad y estilo, todas alabando al Señor y enseñando la palabra de Dios. Algunas han sido iglesias grandes pero la mayoria han sido iglesias pequeñas. Algo que muchos no saben es lo siguiente. De todas las iglesias de Calvary Chapel en el mundo hay solo 200 iglesias de Calvary que tienen más de mil personas. Es bueno ver como Dios está usando todas las iglesias para Su gloria. Llegamos a la casa de mi hermana de nuevo esta noche. Estamos contentos porque nuestros hijos se han portado bien. Por si acaso, todo el mundo sabe que soy caluroso....En este momento estoy contento porque estamos con 0 grados. Que buen clima. Gracias por todas las oraciones. Vamos a 3 iglesias más en este viaje y luego, Dios mediante estaremos regresando al Perú. Les pido que sigan orando por mi papá. Todavía está en el hospital. Una buena noticia en cuanto a su salud es que ayer recibimos la noticia que, después de casí dos semanas, ya no tiene hipos. Ahora tiene que aprender a usar la silla de ruedas mejor y luego, con el apoyo de Dios, aprender a caminar. Dios ha sido bueno. We went to a church where a friend of ours is pastoring this morning. We shared a little regarding the work in Peru with the congregation. It's been nice to be in different churches, each one with it's own personality and style, each one praising the Lord and teaching His word. Some of the churches have been big churches but most have been small. A lot of people don't know that of all the Calvary Chapels in the world, only about 200 have 1,000 people or more. The rest are small. It's great to see how God is using all of the churches for His glory. We got to my sister's house this evening and it was great to see the children again and here that they behaved well. By the way, almost everyone knows that I'm always hot. I never get cold. I'm so happy because it's 32 degrees here right now. What a great climate. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. We'll be going to three more churches on this trip and then, God willing it will be time to go back to Lima. I would ask you to continue praying for my father. Good news regarding him is that, after almost two weeks of having the hiccups, he doesn't have them anymore. Now he just has to concentrate on learning to use the wheel chair better and after that, learn to walk again. God has been good.

Buscando Ciervos Looking for Deer

"Salmo 19:1, "Los cielos cuentan la gloria de Dios, Y el firmamento anuncia la obra de sus manos. " Marco y yo salimos de la casa temprano esta mañana. Su tia de Marco le dijo que a veces se puede encontrar ciervos cerca de la casa al amanecer. Cuando salimos de la casa la temperatura era unos 11 grados y fue lindo. La naturaleza aquí es impresionante y me gusta el clima. No encontramos los ciervos pero pasamos un tiempo lindo. Tomé unas fotos también pero no puedo ponerlas en el blog porque me olvidé el adaptador en la casa de mis padres en Florida. A las 11:00 a.m. estaremos saliendo Betty y yo rumbo a nuestra reunión con los pastores. Oren por nosotros. No se olviden que tenemos que orar por todos los ministerios este fin de semana en las tres iglesias también. Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork." Marco and I left the house early this morning. Marco's aunt told him that sometimes you can find deer nearby early in the morning around dawn. When we left the house it was about 45 degrees and it was beautiful. Seeing the beauty of nature around here is great and I love the weather. We didn't see any deer but we had a great time. I took some pictures too but I can't put them in the blog because I left the adaptor at my father's house in Florida. Betty and I will be leaving at 11:00 a.m. for our meeting with the pastors. Pray for us. Don't forget to pray for all of the ministries at the three churches of Koinonia this weekend too.

Carolina del Norte North Carolina

Salimos de Florida ayer a las 5:00 a.m. Llegamos a Boone, en Carolina del Norte a las 7: 00 p.m. Yo estaba cansado después de manejar 14 horas. El clima es más agradable aquí. Gloria a Dios. Estamos descansando en la casa de mi hermana hoy día. Mañana iremos unas horas mas allá porque tenemos reuniones con tres pastores. El domingo estaremos visitando a otra iglesia en la mañana donde voy a compartir acerca de la obre en El Perú, luego regresaremos a la casa de mi hermana. Gracias por sus oraciones. We left Florida yesterday morning at 5:00 a.m. We got to Boone, North Carolina at 7:00 p.m. I was tired after driving14 hours. We're resting at my sisters house today. The weather is much nicer here. Praise the Lord. Tomorrow we'll be in meeting with three pastors. We'll be visiting a church on Sunday where I'll share briefly regarding the ministry in Peru and then we'll return to my sisters house in the evening. Thanks for your prayers

La Paz de Dios The Peace of God

Juan 14:27 La paz os dejo, mi paz os doy; yo no os la doy como el mundo la da. No se turbe vuestro corazón, ni tenga miedo. Isaías 26:3 Tú guardarás en completa paz a aquel cuyo pensamiento en ti persevera; porque en ti ha confiado. Es tan facil perder el enfoque y preocuparnos cuando enfrentamos problemas. Mi padre sufrió dos derrames cerebrales la semana pasada, no estoy hablando de problemas ajenos. He sido tentado a preocuparme y estar desanimado. A veces he tenido que pedir al Señor Su paz. Es maravilloso saber que Dios nos da Su paz. Podemos recibir la paz de Dios por fe en la misma manera que recibimos la salvación. No tenemos que buscar la nuestra. Tan bueno es descansar y confiar en Dios y recordar Sus promesas. Dios tiene el control todavía. Si no tienes la paz hoy día pidesela a Dios. No intents buscar tu propia paz. Puedes confiar en El Señor hoy día a pesar de las circunstancias. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. It’s so easy to get caught up in all of the problems that face us. I know that with my father having two strokes, I have been tempted to worry and be discouraged. At times I have had to ask the Lord to give me His peace. The great thing is that God gives us His peace. We don’t need to have our own. We can just receive His grace by faith the same way we received our salvation. How great it is to rest on God’s promises and just trust the Lord, knowing that He’s still in control. If you lack peace today, don’t try to work it up. Ask the Lord to give you His peace as you trust in Him today.

La Justificación y Su Propósito Justification and It's Purpose

Romans 5:1, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:”

“Justification by faith is not an end in itself. It is meant to remove every obstacle out of the way so we can get to God. Who cares if we are made right with God if we don’t get God? God gets glory when He’s our treasure—our goal. Justification gets every barrier out of the way and brings us home to our Father and the banquet table of His love.” John Piper

Cañete

Hoy día estamos orando por el ministerio en Cañete, especialmente San Vicente. Oramos por los niños, adolescentes y adultos y oramos por la iglesia porque necesitarán un local nuevo en el futuro. Sabemos que Dios va a proveer.

En cuanto a la familia Vander Kodde, fuimos a un colegio cristiano ayer y compartimos con los niños acerca del Perú. Esta noche estamos yendo a otra iglesia para compartir con la gente. Mañana va a ser un día largo porque estaremos manejando unas 13 horas al norte. Les agradezco sus oraciones.

We’re praying for the ministry in Cañete today, especially San Vicente. Pray for the children, the teens and the adults and pray that God will provide for a new meeting place for the church soon. We know that God will provide.

As far as the Vander Kodde family goes, we went to a Christian school yesterday where we shared what God is doing in Peru with the children. This evening we will be sharing at another church. Tomorrow will be a busy day as we travel about 13 hours to the north. Thanks for your prayers.

Noticias News

Hola a todos. Muchas gracias a todos los que están orando por nosotros como familia. Hemos tenido días de mucha actividad. El jueves estábamos en una iglesia de Calvary compartiendo acerca del ministerio en El Perú con un grupo de personas que oran por los misioneros. El viernes pasamos tiempo con mi papá en el hospital en el día, en la noche nos reunimos con un grupo de personas y hablamos de la obra también. El sábado pasamos un tiempo con mi hermana, mi papa y mi mama en el hospital y en la noche cenamos con nuestro pastor y un amigo suyo y su esposa de Nueva Jersey, en Miami Beach. El domingo estábamos en la iglesia de nuestros amigos de Boynton Beach y con los de Miami Beach en la noche. Esta noche cenamos y compartimos una vez más con los de Boynton. Como pueden ver estamos un poco ocupados pero agradecidos a Dios por tantos amigos en muchos lugares.

Gracias por haber orado por mi papa. Esta noche lo trasladaron del hospital a un centro de rehabilitación. No sabemos cuanto tiempo tendrá que estar allí. En el principio pensaron que habia tenido un derrame cerebral pero luego detectaron que ha tenido dos. Gracias a Dios puede pensar muy claro y comunicarse. No esta paralizado pero tiene dificultad porque ve doble y no puede caminar. Hoy día ha podido comer solo y sentarse en una silla. Sigan orando, por favor.

Hi everyone. Thanks so much to everyone that has been praying for us as a family. Our days have been full of activity lately. Thursday we were in a Calvary Chapel sharing with some people regarding the work in Peru. They’re a group that meets regularly to pray for missionaries. On Friday we spent time with my dad in the hospital during the day and had a meeting with some other Christians in the evening. Saturday was spent in the hospital with my dad and with my sister and then in the evening we had dinner with our pastor and with a pastor friend of his and his wife from New Jersey, in Miami Beach. Sunday morning we were at Calvary Chapel Boynton Beach and then we were in Miami Beach in the evening. This evening we shared some more regarding the work in Peru with the people of Boynton Beach. As you can see we’ve been a little busy but very thankful to God for allowing us to have so many friends in so many places.

Thanks to everyone that has prayed for my father. They transported him from the hospital to a new rehabilitation center this evening. We don’t know how long he’ll have to be there. In the beginning they thought that he had suffered a stroke. After a few days they realized that he had really had two strokes. Thanks to the Lord, He’s able to think clearly and communicate. He’s not paralyzed but has some difficulty because he sees double and can’t walk. He was able to eat and sit in a chair today and so that’s good. Keep praying please.

La Fe Es El Vínculo Entre El Hombre Y Dios

Dios selecciona la fe como el canal de la salvación porque es el método seguro, conectando el hombre con Dios. Cuando el hombre confía en Dios, hay un punto en unión entre los dos y esta unión garantiza una bendición.

La fe nos salva porque por la fe nos aferramos a Dios, y así la fe nos conduce a una conexión con él. He usado una ilustración frecuentemente, pero debo repetirlo porque pienso que no hay otro mejor. Me han contado que hace unos años una barca fue zozobrada cerca de las cataratas de Niagara. Next, God selects faith as the channel of salvation because it is a sure method, linking man with God. When man confides in God, there is a point of union between them, and that union guarantees blessing.
Faith saves us because it makes us cling to God, and so brings us into connection with Him. I have often used the following illustration, but I must repeat it, because I cannot think of a better. I am told that years ago a boat was upset above the falls of Niagara, and two men were being carried down the current, when persons on the shore managed to float a rope out to them, which rope was seized by them both.
One of them held fast to it and was safely drawn to the bank; but the other, seeing a great log come floating by, unwisely let go the rope and clung to the log, for it was the bigger thing of the two, and apparently better to cling to. Alas! the log with the man on it went right over the vast abyss, because there was no union between the log and the shore. The size of the log was no benefit to him who grasped it; it needed a connection with the shore to produce safety.
So when a man trusts to his works, or to sacraments, or to anything of that sort, he will not be saved, because there is no junction between him and Christ; but faith, though it may seem to be like a slender cord, is in the hands of the great God on the shore side; infinite power pulls in the connecting line, and thus draws the man from destruction. Oh the blessedness of faith, because it unites us to God!

Sin duda esta pregunta surge frecuentemente. “Por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe” es sin duda la doctrina de la sagrada escritura, y la ordenanza de Dios; pero, ¿porque es seleccionado en vez de la esperanza, o el amor, o la paciencia?

La fe fue creada para ser el receptor de la gracia.

Supongamos que estoy al punto de darle a un hombre pobre una cantidad de dinero. Lo pongo en su mano. Bueno, no tendría sentido ponerlo en su oreja o ponerlo sobre su pie; parece que la mano ha sido hecha con el propósito de recibir. Entonces en nuestro esquema mental, la fe es creada con el propósito de ser un receptor: es la mano del hombre, y es apropiado recibir la gracia por ella.

Déjenme decirlo muy claro. La fe que recibe a Cristo es un acto tan simple como tu hijo que recibe una manzana de ti como padre porque la extiendes y prometes dársela si tu hijo se acerca para recibirla. La fe y el recibir relacionan en cuanto a la manzana; pero demuestran precisamente el mismo hecho como la fe que se trata de la salvación eterna. El papel de la mano cuando recibe la manzana, es el papel de la fe en cuanto a la salvación perfecta de Cristo.

La mano del niño no hace la manzana y no la mejora. No merece la manzana tampoco, solo la toma. La fe ha sido escogida por Dios como el receptor de la salvación porque no pretende crearla ni mejorarla sino la fe reconoce que su papel es humildemente recibir la salvación. “La fe es la lengua que ruega perdón, la mano que lo recibe y el ojo que lo ve pero no es el dinero que lo compra.”

La fe nunca pide por si misma. La fe confía completamente en la sangre de Cristo. Ella llega a ser una buena sierva que trae las riquezas del Señor Jesús al alma, porque reconoce del donde vienen, y entiende completamente que es por la gracia que ella ha sido encargada con ellas.

Why is faith selected as the channel of salvation?

No doubt this inquiry is often made. “By grace are ye saved through faith,” is assuredly the doctrine of Holy Scripture, and the ordinance of God; but why is it so? Why is faith selected rather than hope, or love, or patience?

Faith Was Created To Be The Receiver Of Grace

Suppose that I am about to give a poor man some money: I put it into his hand—why? Well, it would hardly be fitting to put it into his ear, or to lay it upon his foot; the hand seems made on purpose to receive. So, in our mental frame, faith is created on purpose to be a receiver: it is the hand of the man, and there is a fitness in receiving grace by its means.

Do let me put this very plainly. Faith which receives Christ is as simple an act as when your child receives an apple from you, because you hold it out and promise to give him the apple if he comes for it. The belief and the receiving relate only to an apple; but they make up precisely the same act as the faith which deals with eternal salvation. What the child’s hand is to the apple, that your faith is to the perfect salvation of Christ.

The child’s hand does not make the apple, nor improve the apple, nor deserve the apple; it only takes it; and faith is chosen by God to be the receiver of salvation, because it does not pretend to create salvation, nor to help in it, but it is content humbly to receive it. “Faith is the tongue that begs pardon, the hand which receives it, and the eye which sees it; but it is not the price which buys it.”

Faith never makes herself her own plea, she rests all her argument upon the blood of Christ. She becomes a good servant to bring the riches of the Lord Jesus to the soul, because she acknowledges where she drew them from, and owns that grace alone entrusted her with them.

Estamos pidiendo oración por el papá de Brian. Sufrió un derrame cerebral ayer. Gracias al Señor, Brian estaba con él y pudo acompañarlo al hospital junto con su mamá también. Hoy día han detectado que su papá tiene un coágulo de sangre en el cerebro y está con ciertas complicaciones.

We received news from Peru stating that the children’s festival in Surco was really good. Some new children went along with some children that we haven’t seen in a long time. Thanks to everyone that participated and helped. Thanks to those of you that prayed too.

We’re asking for prayer for Brian’s dad. He had a stroke yesterday. Thanks to the Lord Brian was with him at the time and was able to accompany him to the hospital along with his mother. The doctors detected a blood clot in the brain today and his father is dealing with some complications.

¿Se han dado cuenta cuanta oración se está haciendo para un avivamiento ultimamente? Y ha dado poco resultado.
