Arequipa y Puno. Arequipa and Puno

Estoy viajando a Arequipa esta mañana. Voy con Robin. Vamos a visitar a los hermanos allí y voy a enseñar la palabra mañana en la mañana si Dios permite. Después del estudio bíblico vamos a viajar a Puno. Vamos a pasar unos días con Javier y Rosita. Son parte de la familia de Koinonia Surco pero están viviendo en Puno por un tiempo por motivos de trabajo. Oren por nosotros y por los de Surco también. Ricardo Ramos va a enseñar la palabra mañana en la manaña aquí en Surco. Jimmy Palomino va a dirigir el estudio en la noche y José Jimenez será el profesor el Jueves. Oren por ellos también.

I´m travelling to Arequipa this morning. I´ll be travelling with Robin. We´ll be spending some time with the brothers there and I´ll be teaching the word tomorrow morning in their fellowship if the Lord permits. After the study we´ll be travelling to Puno. We´re going to spend a few days with Javier and Rosita. They´re part of the Koinonia Surco family but they´re living in Puno because of work. Pray for us and for the people here in Surco. Ricardo Ramos will be teaching tomorrow morning here in Surco. Jimmy Palomino will be teaching at night and José Jimenez will be the professor on Thursday night for our Bible class. Pray for them as well.

Recién hoy día he podido poner unas fotos de nuestro viaje en el blog. Disfrutamos mucho nuestro tiempo en Carolina del Norte y tomanos unos días para descansar, pasar un tiempo con mi hermana y disfrutar un poco del campo.

Just today I'm able to put some pictures from our trip in the blog. We really enjoyed our time in North Carolina as we took a few days to rest and spend time with my sister. We spent some time in the country too and that was really nice.

Ya Regresamos We're Back

Regresamos al Perú ayer en la mañana. Estábamos muy cansados después de viajar de madrugada. Pasamos el día descansando y sacando unas cosas de las maletas. En la noche fuimos al estudio bíblico. Gracias al Señor, conocimos a mucha gente nueva en el viaje. Ahora estamos orando para ver que es lo que Dios hará a travéz de todos los amigos que conocimos. Queremos seguir ministrando y avanzar más este año. Estamos orando por la provisión para poder hacerlo. Oren con nosotros.

Oren por el viaje misionero a Ayacucho programado por la primera semana de Diciembre. Dios mediante estaremos enseñando la palabra de Dios, haciendo títeres, mimos, y esperando a ver lo que Dios hará.

We returned to Peru yesterday morning. We were pretty tired after travelling during the night and so we took the better part of the day to rest and unpack a few things. We went to the Bible study in the evening. Thanks to the Lord we were able to meet a lot of new people on our trip to the States. Now we're just waiting to see what the Lord will do through all of our new friends. We want to continue to minister here in Peru and go forward this year in many aspects of the ministry. We're praying for God's provision to be able to do it. Pray with us.

Pray for the missions trip to Ayacucho planned for the first week of December. God willing we will be teaching the word, doing puppet shows and mimes and waiting to see what God will do.

Llegamos a Pompano Beach Florida anoche después de manejar todo el día. El fin de semana manejamos un total de 24 horas visitando a unos amigos y visitando dos iglesias. Pensando en el viaje, estamos muy agradecidos a Dios por su protección, su provisión y su guía. Ha sido bueno ver a amigos y hacer nuevos amigos también. Ahora estamos con ganas de regresar al Perú y trabajar allí de nuevo. Hoy día estamos terminando unos asuntos importantes como enviar DVD’s del ministerio a los amigos que no hemos visto, empacar y hacer unas cositas más.

We made it to Pompano Beach last night after driving all day. This past weekend we drove a total of about 24 hours visiting friends and two churches. Thinking about the trip we’re so grateful to the Lord for His protection, His provision and His guidance. It’s been so good to see friends and make many new ones as well. Now we’re anxious to get back to Peru and get to work with the ministry there again. We’re taking today to finish up with some last minute details like sending out DVD’s of the ministry to some friends that we weren’t able to see, we’re packing and doing some other things as well.

Vamos a estar viajando sin acceso a una computadora hasta el martes. Vamos a Tennessee y Carolina del Sur. Luego estaremos regresando a Florida. Espero poner algo nuevo en el blog el martes. Una Iglesia Amable A Kind Church

“compartiendo para las necesidades de los santos; practicando la hospitalidad.” Romanos 12:13 Anoche visitamos una iglesia donde compartimos acerca del ministerio en El Perú y compartí un poco de la palabra de Dios. Nunca habíamos visitado esta iglesia antes. Llegamos temprano y fue impresionante lo que experimentamos. El grupo de alabanza estaba ensayando y el bajista nos saludó desde la plataforma. El sonista nos saludó también. Luego llegaron dos señoras. Nos saludaron en una manera muy genuina. Ya tienen la idea. Es una iglesia muy atenta y amable. Yo invitaría a cualquier persona a esta iglesia porque sé que la gente muestra el amor de Cristo. Por su hospitalidad estabamos con muchas ganas de escuchar lo que iba a pasar en el culto. El versículo que he puesto arriba es importante. Es de la palabra de Dios. Es un mandamiento de Dios. Es interesante porque muchas personas son personas hospitalarias con gente conocida pero aquí vemos que la palabra hospitalidad es la palabra philoxenia en griego. La palabra philoxenia viene de dos palabras. La palabra philo que quiere decir amor o amable y la palabra xenos. La palabra xenos quiere decir un desconocido. Vemos, entonces que la palabra hospitalidad en Romanos 12 no se refiere a ser amable con los conocidos, sino con los desconocidos. Cuando una persona nueva llega a la iglesia ya sabemos que es natural para la persona sentirse un poco extraña. Tal vez no conoce a nadie y no sabe que esperar. En un ratito podemos hacerla sentir muy cómoda y lista a recibir lo que él Señor tiene preparado. “distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.” Romans 12:13 We went to visit a church last night where we shared about the ministry in Peru and I shared a little from God’s word as well. We had never visited the church before. We arrived early and we were really impressed by what we experienced. The worship team was still rehearsing but as we entered the bass player waved hello to us from the stage and then the sound man said hello to us too. Afterwards, two women arrived and promptly said hello to us as well. They did it with such sincerity. You’ve already got the idea. We visited a church that is very attentive and kind. I would invite anyone to visit that church any time because I know that the people show the love of Christ. Due to their hospitality we were so excited to see what the service would be like. The verse that I have put above is important. It’s God’s word. It’s a commandment from our Lord. Many people are hospitable with people that they know but we see that the word hospitality in this verse is the word philoxenia in Greek. It comes from two words. The first word is philo which means loving. The second word is the word xenos which means a stranger. We see then, that the word hospitality in Romans 12 doesn’t refer to being kind to people we already know. It’s talking about being kind to strangers. When a new person gets to church we already know that it’s natural for them to feel a little uncomfortable. Maybe they don’t know anyone and aren’t sure of what to expect. In just a moment we can help them to feel very comfortable and ready to receive what the Lord has prepared.

La Nieve Snow

Cuando me desperté esta mañana estabamos con -2.22 grados de temperatura aquí en Boone, Carolina del Norte. Que rico clima. Que refrescante. Ayer mis hijos vieron la nieve en la mañana y estan muy contentos por eso. Marco estaba orando para poder ver la nieve hace dos semanas ya. Dios es bueno. When I woke up this morning the temperature was a steady 28 degrees here in Boone, North Carolina. What great weather. It's so refreshing. My children saw snow yesterday morning and so they're so happy for that. Marco was praying for two weeks to see snow. God is good.

Fuimos a la iglesia esta mañana donde un amigo esta pastoreando y compartimos un poco acerca de la obra en El Perú. Ha sido bueno estar en diferentes iglesias, todas con su propia identidad y estilo, todas alabando al Señor y enseñando la palabra de Dios. Algunas han sido iglesias grandes pero la mayoria han sido iglesias pequeñas. Algo que muchos no saben es lo siguiente. De todas las iglesias de Calvary Chapel en el mundo hay solo 200 iglesias de Calvary que tienen más de mil personas. Es bueno ver como Dios está usando todas las iglesias para Su gloria. Llegamos a la casa de mi hermana de nuevo esta noche. Estamos contentos porque nuestros hijos se han portado bien. Por si acaso, todo el mundo sabe que soy caluroso....En este momento estoy contento porque estamos con 0 grados. Que buen clima. Gracias por todas las oraciones. Vamos a 3 iglesias más en este viaje y luego, Dios mediante estaremos regresando al Perú. Les pido que sigan orando por mi papá. Todavía está en el hospital. Una buena noticia en cuanto a su salud es que ayer recibimos la noticia que, después de casí dos semanas, ya no tiene hipos. Ahora tiene que aprender a usar la silla de ruedas mejor y luego, con el apoyo de Dios, aprender a caminar. Dios ha sido bueno. We went to a church where a friend of ours is pastoring this morning. We shared a little regarding the work in Peru with the congregation. It's been nice to be in different churches, each one with it's own personality and style, each one praising the Lord and teaching His word. Some of the churches have been big churches but most have been small. A lot of people don't know that of all the Calvary Chapels in the world, only about 200 have 1,000 people or more. The rest are small. It's great to see how God is using all of the churches for His glory. We got to my sister's house this evening and it was great to see the children again and here that they behaved well. By the way, almost everyone knows that I'm always hot. I never get cold. I'm so happy because it's 32 degrees here right now. What a great climate. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. We'll be going to three more churches on this trip and then, God willing it will be time to go back to Lima. I would ask you to continue praying for my father. Good news regarding him is that, after almost two weeks of having the hiccups, he doesn't have them anymore. Now he just has to concentrate on learning to use the wheel chair better and after that, learn to walk again. God has been good.

Buscando Ciervos Looking for Deer

"Salmo 19:1, "Los cielos cuentan la gloria de Dios, Y el firmamento anuncia la obra de sus manos. " Marco y yo salimos de la casa temprano esta mañana. Su tia de Marco le dijo que a veces se puede encontrar ciervos cerca de la casa al amanecer. Cuando salimos de la casa la temperatura era unos 11 grados y fue lindo. La naturaleza aquí es impresionante y me gusta el clima. No encontramos los ciervos pero pasamos un tiempo lindo. Tomé unas fotos también pero no puedo ponerlas en el blog porque me olvidé el adaptador en la casa de mis padres en Florida. A las 11:00 a.m. estaremos saliendo Betty y yo rumbo a nuestra reunión con los pastores. Oren por nosotros. No se olviden que tenemos que orar por todos los ministerios este fin de semana en las tres iglesias también. Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork." Marco and I left the house early this morning. Marco's aunt told him that sometimes you can find deer nearby early in the morning around dawn. When we left the house it was about 45 degrees and it was beautiful. Seeing the beauty of nature around here is great and I love the weather. We didn't see any deer but we had a great time. I took some pictures too but I can't put them in the blog because I left the adaptor at my father's house in Florida. Betty and I will be leaving at 11:00 a.m. for our meeting with the pastors. Pray for us. Don't forget to pray for all of the ministries at the three churches of Koinonia this weekend too.

Carolina del Norte North Carolina

Salimos de Florida ayer a las 5:00 a.m. Llegamos a Boone, en Carolina del Norte a las 7: 00 p.m. Yo estaba cansado después de manejar 14 horas. El clima es más agradable aquí. Gloria a Dios. Estamos descansando en la casa de mi hermana hoy día. Mañana iremos unas horas mas allá porque tenemos reuniones con tres pastores. El domingo estaremos visitando a otra iglesia en la mañana donde voy a compartir acerca de la obre en El Perú, luego regresaremos a la casa de mi hermana. Gracias por sus oraciones. We left Florida yesterday morning at 5:00 a.m. We got to Boone, North Carolina at 7:00 p.m. I was tired after driving14 hours. We're resting at my sisters house today. The weather is much nicer here. Praise the Lord. Tomorrow we'll be in meeting with three pastors. We'll be visiting a church on Sunday where I'll share briefly regarding the ministry in Peru and then we'll return to my sisters house in the evening. Thanks for your prayers

Cañete

Hoy día estamos orando por el ministerio en Cañete, especialmente San Vicente. Oramos por los niños, adolescentes y adultos y oramos por la iglesia porque necesitarán un local nuevo en el futuro. Sabemos que Dios va a proveer.

En cuanto a la familia Vander Kodde, fuimos a un colegio cristiano ayer y compartimos con los niños acerca del Perú. Esta noche estamos yendo a otra iglesia para compartir con la gente. Mañana va a ser un día largo porque estaremos manejando unas 13 horas al norte. Les agradezco sus oraciones.

We’re praying for the ministry in Cañete today, especially San Vicente. Pray for the children, the teens and the adults and pray that God will provide for a new meeting place for the church soon. We know that God will provide.

As far as the Vander Kodde family goes, we went to a Christian school yesterday where we shared what God is doing in Peru with the children. This evening we will be sharing at another church. Tomorrow will be a busy day as we travel about 13 hours to the north. Thanks for your prayers.

Noticias News

Hola a todos. Muchas gracias a todos los que están orando por nosotros como familia. Hemos tenido días de mucha actividad. El jueves estábamos en una iglesia de Calvary compartiendo acerca del ministerio en El Perú con un grupo de personas que oran por los misioneros. El viernes pasamos tiempo con mi papá en el hospital en el día, en la noche nos reunimos con un grupo de personas y hablamos de la obra también. El sábado pasamos un tiempo con mi hermana, mi papa y mi mama en el hospital y en la noche cenamos con nuestro pastor y un amigo suyo y su esposa de Nueva Jersey, en Miami Beach. El domingo estábamos en la iglesia de nuestros amigos de Boynton Beach y con los de Miami Beach en la noche. Esta noche cenamos y compartimos una vez más con los de Boynton. Como pueden ver estamos un poco ocupados pero agradecidos a Dios por tantos amigos en muchos lugares.

Gracias por haber orado por mi papa. Esta noche lo trasladaron del hospital a un centro de rehabilitación. No sabemos cuanto tiempo tendrá que estar allí. En el principio pensaron que habia tenido un derrame cerebral pero luego detectaron que ha tenido dos. Gracias a Dios puede pensar muy claro y comunicarse. No esta paralizado pero tiene dificultad porque ve doble y no puede caminar. Hoy día ha podido comer solo y sentarse en una silla. Sigan orando, por favor.

Hi everyone. Thanks so much to everyone that has been praying for us as a family. Our days have been full of activity lately. Thursday we were in a Calvary Chapel sharing with some people regarding the work in Peru. They’re a group that meets regularly to pray for missionaries. On Friday we spent time with my dad in the hospital during the day and had a meeting with some other Christians in the evening. Saturday was spent in the hospital with my dad and with my sister and then in the evening we had dinner with our pastor and with a pastor friend of his and his wife from New Jersey, in Miami Beach. Sunday morning we were at Calvary Chapel Boynton Beach and then we were in Miami Beach in the evening. This evening we shared some more regarding the work in Peru with the people of Boynton Beach. As you can see we’ve been a little busy but very thankful to God for allowing us to have so many friends in so many places.

Thanks to everyone that has prayed for my father. They transported him from the hospital to a new rehabilitation center this evening. We don’t know how long he’ll have to be there. In the beginning they thought that he had suffered a stroke. After a few days they realized that he had really had two strokes. Thanks to the Lord, He’s able to think clearly and communicate. He’s not paralyzed but has some difficulty because he sees double and can’t walk. He was able to eat and sit in a chair today and so that’s good. Keep praying please.

Chris and Elaine

Hemos estado muy ocupados en estos días. El martes estubimos con nuestros amigos Jack y Susan y su familia. Ellos viven en Orlando y están orando y levantando apoyo financiero para poder mudarse a Lima como misioneros. Jack quiere ayudarme en la escuela de discípulado en ingles. Susan desea enseñar ingles como una forma de ayudar a los peruanos y alcanzar a más gente con el evangelio. debemos orar por ellos. Su deseo es mudarse a Lima en los primeros meses de 2007. Depende de su apoyo financiero.
Una experiencia buena… salí de la casa en la mañana para hacer un poco de ejercicio. Vi la piel de un cascabel al lado de la pista. Media hora después vi a un alligator (animal tipo cocodrilo) en el rio. Era muy grande y maravilloso. Una caminata impresionante.

El miércoles compartir la palabra de Dios en Calvary Chapel Orange Park Florida. Allí mi amigo Chris Friedrich está pastoreando. Fue bueno ver a unos amigos que no hemos visto hace tres años. Aprecio mucho a Pastor Chris pero estamos llegando a la vejez y por eso nos acostamos temprano esta vez. A las dos de la madrugada le dije que tenía que dormir. La costumbre es acostarnos a las 3:00 a.m. Pasamos una buena parte de la mañana el dia de ayer con Pastor Chris y su esposa Elaine. Son muy buenas personas. Pastor Chris es un hombre radical y conocido como el problemático entre unos pastores de las iglesias de Calvary Chapel en Florida. Yo lo conozco bien y se que Chris se preocupa por lo que está pasando en muchas iglesias igual que yo.

Anoche fuimos a la casa de Robin y Tracy. Ellos son amigos de Boynton Beach. Están planeando mudarse a Lima en Junio de 2007 como misioneros. La idea es ministrar con Koinonia unos 2 años y luego fundar una iglesia en otro lugar en El Perú. Ellos, igual que Jack y Susan están levantando apoyo financiero para su ministerio. Estamos orando por ellos igual que por Jack y Susan porque sabemos que serán de gran bendición para todos.

Esta tarde tenemos una reunión con un pastor aquí en Florida y en la noche estaremos en la casa de nuestros amigos J.P. y Heather. J.P. es pastor asistente de la iglesia de Calvary Chapel Miami Beach. Ellos han ofrecido invitar a gente a su casa para que podamos compartir sobre lo que Dios está haciendo en El Perú.

A good experience… I left Jack and Susan’s house to do a little exercise. While walking I saw a rattlesnake skin on the side of the road. About a half hour later I was walking along side a river and I saw a big alligator. It was marvelous. That was a great walk.

I shared from God’s word on Wednesday night at Calvary Chapel Orange Park Florida. Mi friend Chris Friedrich is pastoring the church there. It was good to see some friends that we haven’t seen in three years. I really love Pastor Chris but we’re getting old and weren’t able to keep up our routine. We only talked until 2:00 a.m. Normally we talk until three when we get together but this year I had to cut it short and go to bed. We spent a good part of yesterday morning with Chris and his wife Elaine. They’re just awesome people. Chris in known as one of the problem pastors in Florida but I know him well and I know that he’s just very concerned about what’s happening in a lot of the churches just like me.

Last night we went to Robin and Tracy’s house. They’re some friends from Boynton Beach that are planning to move to Peru in June of 2007 as missionaries. The idea is to work with us in Koinonia for about 2 years and then move to another area of Peru and start a church. Just like Jack and Susan, they’re raising financial support for their ministry. We’re praying for them as well as Jack and Susan because we know that they’ll be a great blessing for everyone.

This afternoon we have a meeting with a pastor here in Florida and this evening we’ll be at J.P. and Heather’s house. J.P. is assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Miami Beach. They’ve offered to invite people to their house so that we can share regarding what God is doing in Peru.

God willing I’ll be writing some more tomorrow.

Estos días These Days

Sorry that I haven’t written anything the last few days. I was up in north central Florida spending time with a few friends, meeting with some pastors and attending a men’s conference. I taught at Calvary Chapel Gainesville on Sunday morning. What a great few days. It was great to see the Cousino’s and Dot Steitz. They’re friends from my Salvation Army days. I saw Frank Muñoz on Sunday afternoon also. We were so happy to see each other. Keep praying for us as we travel raising awareness and support for the ministry in Peru. Here are a few pictures of what’s been happening the last few days.

Perdón por no haber escrito nada en estos días. Yo estaba en la parte del norte, central de Florida pasando tiempo con amigos, asistiendo a una reunión de pastores y una conferencia para hombres también. Enseñé la palabra en Calvary Chapel Gainesville el domingo en la mañana también. Han sido días recontra buenos. Fue mostro ver a los Cousino’s y a Dot Steitz. Son amigos de hace muchos años cuando yo trabajaba por El Ejercito de la Salvación. Vi a Frank Muñoz el domingo en la tarde también. Estábamos muy contentos a verse.
