¡Que Entren Los Payasitos! Send in the Little Clowns!

Los payasitos eran Marco, Rodrigo, Anna y Ariana. Hicieron un show basado en la historia del hijo pródigo para los niños. Fue muy divertido y bíblico a la vez.

The little clowns were Marco, Rodrigo, Anna and Ariana. They did a show based on the story of the prodigal son for the children. It was a lot of fun and Biblical too.

Rodrigo era el hijo pródigo en el teatro y al final, tuvo que bañarse porque apestaba. Hablando en serio, hiciste muy bien compadre. Estamos con ganas de verte actuar otra vez. Bien hecho Rodrigo.

Rodrigo was the prodigal son in the drama and in the end needed a bath because he smelled bad. But seriously, you did a good job man. We can´t wait to see you acting again. Keep it up Rodrigo.

Yes, it´s true that some fathers made it to the party as well. They have a good sense of smell and arrived looking for something to eat!

Las mamás disfrutaron la fiesta también. Fue bueno conversar y dejar a los niños más grandes ministrar a los pequeños. (Si, las mamás apoyaron también.)

The mothers enjoyed the party too. It was good to be able to talk and allow the older children minister to the younger ones. (Yes, the mothers did help too.)

Cuando Hay Koinonia, Hay Comida. When there´s Koinonia, There´s Food.

Los niños comieron una hamburguesa pequeña con papas fritas y tomaron un jugo. La hamburguesa era el tamaño perfecto para los niños. Aquí pueden ver a algunas de las chicas que prepararon todo.

The children ate small hamburgers with french fries and had a juice to drink. The hamburgers were just the right size for the children. Here are a few photos of some of the girls that helped prepare everything.

Preparando Siervos. Preparing Servants

Anoche comenzamos a prepararnos como siervos del Señor haciendo algo diferente. Estamos reuniéndonos los días lunes en la noche para orar juntos, estudiar la palabra y hablas de cosas prácticas que son importantes para el ministerio.

Todos los hombres aquí han hecho un compromiso de servicio en la iglesia del Señor y desean más preparación. Las reuniones van a ser muy útiles pero son para los que han sido invitados personalmente. Así ponemos mantener un nivel de confianza e intimidad que es importante. Para ver los nombres y orar por cada uno haz un clic en la foto.

Last night we began to prepare ourselves for the ministry a little more as servants. We´re doing something different this time. We´re meeting together each Monday night to pray together, study the word, and talk of practical things that we need to know in the ministry.

All of the men here have made a commitment to minister in some way and desire more preparation. The meetings will be very helpful but are by invitation only. We want to keep a level of intimacy and trust that is essential for a group like this. ¡Se Van a Paraguay! They´re Going to Paraguay!

Gaby y Oninxha son dos chicas de la iglesia que han decidido ir a Paraguay por unos seis meses. Van a estudiar y ministrar con Jucum. Nos despedimos de ellas oficialmente el viernes. Oninxha se fue esta semana y Gaby se va después. Queremos orar por ellas mucho. Que sean de gran bendición para los Paraguayos y que reciban muchas bendiciones del Señor allá.

Gaby and Oninxha are two girls from the church that have decided to go to Paraguay por about 6 months. They´ll be studying and ministering with Youth With a Mission. We had our official goodbye party on Friday. Oninxha left this week and Gaby will be going afterward. We want to be praying for them alot. May they be a great blessing for the people of Paraguay and may they receive a lot of blessings from the Lord there!

I decided to put some more photos of the Vacation Bible School in Ica here so that you´ll have a better idea of what happened. Maybe you could take a few moments to look at some of the facs of the people that were involved and pray for them. We´re praying for the group that´s in Cañete this week teaching the VBS too.

Alabanzas y Canciones Divertidas. Praise Songs and Fun Songs.

Una parte importante de la Escuela Bíblica de Verano es la música. Enseñamos canciones de alabanza y canciones divertidas también. Una de las favoritas es "El Sapo".

One of the important parts of Vacation Bible School is the music. We taught praise songs and fun songs. One of the favorites is "El Sapo", "The Frog" in english.

Tiempo Para Estudiar la Bíblia. Time for Bible Study.

Los niños estudiaron la Biblia cada día. Usamos la Biblia, hojas de repaso con tareas y el flanelografo. Los niños se portaron muy bien y lo mas importante es que aprendieron.

The children studied the Bible each day. We used the Bible, review sheets with questions and a flannelgraph. The children were very well behaved and most importantly, they learned.

Los Adultos Querían Escuchar También. The Adults Wanted to Hear Too.

Mientras los niños estudiaban en la clase los adultos escucharon atentamente al evangelio. Gracias Señor por permitirnos ministrar a ellos también.

While the children studied in their class, the adults listened to the gospel attentively. Thanks Lord for allowing us to minister to them as well.

Los niños hicieron manualidades cada día en Ica y en La Tinguiña... algo divirtido que hacer en el verano.

The children did crafts each day in Ica and in La Tinguiña... something fun to do in the summertime.

Los niños disfrutaton mucho la oportunidad de repasar la historia bíblica coloreando una hora acerca del tema.

The children enjoyed the opportunity to review the Bible story coloring a page that had to do with the theme.

Grupo Misionero a Cañete. Missionary Team to Cañete

Esta semana estamos enviando a un grupo misionero de Koinonia Surco a Cañete donde van a enseñar la Biblia a los niños en la Escuela Bíblica de Verano. Estarán en Playa Hermosa en las mañanas y en San Vicente en las tardes. Las noches estarán orando y ministrando a los adultos cuando sea posible. Oren por ellos. Los que se van están en la foto arriba. En realidad, acaban de salir rumbo a Cañete hace unos 20 minutos.

This week we're sending a missionary team from Koinonia Surco to Cañete where they'll be teaching the Bible to children in Vacation Bible School. They'll be teaching in Playa Hermosa in the mornings and in San Vicente in the afternoons. The evenings will be dedicated to prayer and ministry to the adults whenever possible. Pray for them. Those that will be going are pictured above. Actually, they already left for Cañete 20 minutes ago.

Ica, Mas de lo que Esperamos. Ica, More Than We Expected

Ya terminamos con la Escuela Bíblica de Verano en Ica. Estamos muy contentos. No sabíamos que esperar en el colegio donde nos reunimos porque no hubo mucho tiempo para invitar a los niños. No tenemos mucho tiempo ministrando en la ciudad tampoco. Llegaron 30 niños mas o menos y fue lindo ver que estaban con muchas ganas de aprender la palabra. Ya nos han dado sus e-mails para que podamos avisarles de mas cosas en el futuro. Mientras la mayoria de los de Koinonia Surco ministraban a los niños, Americo compartía la palabra de Dios con los adultos. Fue un tiempo edificante para todos. Muchas gracias a Mario, Carolina, Lucha, la familia Palomino y Zumiki (son de la iglesia de Ica) también por su colaboración. Ahora tenemos que orar para saber que es lo que Dios querrá que hagamos como el siguiente paso. Oren con nosotros por favor.

We finished the Vacation Bible School in Ica. We´re very happy. We didn´t know what to expect regarding the school were we met because we didn´t have a lot of time to invite children from the neighborhood. We haven´t been ministering in the area for very long either. Approximately 30 children attended each morning and they were very interested in learning the word of God. They´ve given us their e-mails so that we can let them know about future events as well. While the majority of the team from Koinonia Surco ministered to the children, Americo shared the gospel with the adults. It was a very edifying time for everyone involved. Many thanks to Mario, Carolina, Lucha, la familia Palomino, and Zumiki (they´re from the church in Ica) for their help. Now we want to pray to know what the next step that God will have us take is. Ricardo, El Hincha del Sapo. Ricardo, the Frog Fan.

Ricardo fue el líder de alabanza esta semana en Ica. También apoyo en otras cosas como limpiar baños, preparar el refrigerio, etc. Se emocionó tanto con los niños que ahora nos está amenazando. Dice que va a cantar la canción "El Sapo" en el culto dominical para adultos. Este viaje fue su primer viaje misionero con Koinonia.

Ricardo was the worship leader this week in Ica. He helped in other areas as well. He cleaned bathrooms, helped to prepare the snack, etc. He got so excited with leading the music for the children that he´s threatening to sing the frog song in church on Sunday with the adults. This was his first missions trip with Koinonia.

La Lluvia y La Bendición. The Rain and the Blessing

Ica es una ciudad en el desierto del Perú pero cuando hicimos la escuela bíblica de verano llovió mucho. No esperabamos eso pero todo salió bien. Los del grupo usaron bolsas de plástico para no mojarse mucho y seguieron ministrando. Llegaron los niños igual y todo fue una gran bendición. Según mi opinión salió mejor que esperamos. Los niños aprendieron, el grupo trabajó con mucha unidad y el nombre del Señor fue glorificado. Fue lindo ver como las damas del barrio también participaron. Están comprendiendo mas de la palabra cada vez. Sigamos orando por Ica y por el barrio de La Tinguiña.

Ica is a city in the desert of Peru but when we did the Vacation Bible School it rained a lot. We didn´t expect that but everything turned out okay. The people from Koinonia Surco used plastic garbage bags to avoid getting too wet and then just kept ministering. The children showed up just the same and the event was a great blessing for everyone involved. In my opinion, it turned out even better than we expected. The children learned, the group ministered with a lot of unity and the name of the Lord was glorified. It was great to see how the women from the neighborhood participated too. They´re understanding the word of the Lord a little more each time we go. Keep praying for Ica and for La Tinguiña.

Americo Modelando. Americo Modeling

Americo está posando. Quiere mostrar la nueva moda de ropa de lluvia para hombres. Es muy simple, comoda y sobre todo, económica. Muy pronto Americo estará viajando a Paris como modelo internacional.

America poses herer. He wants to show the new style of rain gear for men. It´s very simple, comfortable, and most importantly, economical. Americo will be travelling to Paris as an international model soon.

Betsy Está Contenta. Betsy is Happy.

Cuando Betsy llegó al Perú de Michigan no esperaba econtrarse en medio de una revolución de "Fashion". Está muy contenta porque sabe que todas sus compañeras en la universidad le van a tener mucha envidia por su ropa de lluvia peruana.

When Betsy got to Peru from Michigan she didn´t expect to find herself in the middle of a "Fashion Revolution". She´s very happy because she knows that her friends from the university will envy her when they see her peruvian rain gear.

Los Varoncitos de La Tinguiña. The Boys of La Tinguiña

Estos son algunos de los varoncitos de La Tinguiña. Tomé las fotos porque llegaron una hora antes de la reunión y con muchas ganas. Se portaron muy bien. Han aprendido mucho de la palabra de Dios en estos días de la Escuela Bíblica de Verano en su barrio. Gracias a todos los que oraron por es evento. Fue todo un éxito. Los del barrio estan preguntando, "¿Cuando van a hacerlo otra vez?"

These are some of the boys from La Tinguiña neighborhood in Ica. I took their pictures because they got to the meeting one hour early and with a lot of enthusiasm. They behaved so well and they learned a lot about the word of God during the three days of Vacation Bible School in their neighborhood. Thanks to everyone that prayed for this event. It was a great success. The people of the neighborhood are asking when we´re going to do it again.

El Grupo Acaba de Salir. The Group Just Left.

El grupo misionero de Koinonia Surco acaba de salir de la iglesia. Ya está en camino a Ica donde van a ministrar 3 días. Estamos orando por ellos. Dios mediante, estaremos subiendo fotos al blog en estos días para que puedan ver lo que está pasando. Yo (Brian) voy mañana y el jueves intentaré escribir algunas noticias aquí.

The missionary group from Koinonia Surco just left from the church on their way to Ica. They´ll be ministering there three days. We´re praying for them. God willing, we´ll be putting pictures on the blog these days to let you see what´s happening. I (Brian) will be going tomorrow and I'll try to write something news on Thursday as well.

Escuela Bíblica de Verano en Ica. Vacation Bible School in Ica

El día de mañana un grupo de Koinonia Surco estará viajando a Ica para comenzar tres días de ministerio. Estarán dictando clases de la Escuela Bíblica de Verano dos veces al día. Las mañanas estarán en la ciudad y en las tardes en La Tinguiña. En las noches van a estar libres para ministrar donde Dios quiera. Oren por ellos. Estarán de regreso a Lima el viernes en la noche.

A group from Koinonia Surco will be travelling to Ica tomorrow where they'll begin three days of Vacation Bible School teaching. They'll be teaching class twice a day. In the mornings they'll be in the city and in the afternoons in La Tinguiña. The evenings will be dedicated to ministering wherever God leads them. Pray for them. They'll be returning late Friday evening.
