Esta mañana estamos orando por el festival de niños en la iglesia Koinonia Surco. Nuestro deseo es aprovechar de la noche para alcanzar a más niños y adultos con el evangelio de Jesucristo. Estamos orando por vidas cambiadas. Oremos por los niños de la iglesia y los niños del Perú. Estoy con ganas de ver a Cristo obrando más y más en nuestro país.
This morning we’re praying for the Children’s Festival in the church this evening. Our desire is to take advantage of this opportunity and reach more children and adults with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’re praying for changed lives. Let’s pray for the children of the church and the children of Peru. I really desire to see Jesus Christ working more and more in our country.

Don't Be Afraid No Teman
Don’t Be Afraid
As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross to the other side of the lake." He was already in the boat, so they started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm arose. High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they woke him up, shouting, "Teacher, don't you even care that we are going to drown?" When he woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, "Quiet down!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. And he asked them, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?" And they were filled with awe and said among themselves, "Who is this man, that even the wind and waves obey him?" Mark 4:35-41
Whenever Jesus is revealed in a new way, he has to tell the disciples not to be afraid. (Matt. 8:26, 14:27, 17:7, 28:10, Mk. 4:40, 5:36, 6:50, Lk. 5:10, 8:50, 12:32, Jn. 6:20, 12:15, 14:27) Too often we simply think of Him as "gentle Jesus, meek and mild." But this is only a small facet of His infinite character. If we look closely at the gospels, we will see that those who were closest to Jesus we often terrified by His power, so frightened were they that He had to continually tell them, "don't be afraid." If He is the same yesterday, today and forever, where has this terrifying aspect of His nature gone? He is no less powerful now than He was then. What has become of this "disturbing presence" of Jesus?

Si estudiamos los evangelios cuidadosamente, vemos que los que estaban más cerca de Jesús estaban aterrorizados de Su poder, tan aterrorizados que Jesús tenía que decirles, “no teman” continuamente. Si Él es lo mismo ayer, hoy y para siempre, ¿Dónde ha ido ese aspecto aterrador de Su naturaleza? Él no es menos poderoso hoy que en aquel tiempo. ¿Qué ha pasado con la presencia inquietante de Jesús?

Estábamos conversando con un pastor de misiones en estos días. Hablamos de la idea de formar una micro empresa para proveer por las necesidades del ministerio, la gente de la iglesia y los que desean servir al Señor en otros sitios en El Perú. El pastor se emocionó y confirmó que es algo que debemos hacer. Tenemos que poner empeño en eso. El ministerio está creciendo y no queremos depender de otros países demasiado. Queremos depender de Dios como siempre, pero permitirle obrar usando la fuerza, la creatividad y el empeño que nos da él. Oren para que el Señor pueda abrir puertas para nosotros como iglesia. Oren por la provisión necesaria para poder terminar el edificio en Puente Piedra. Todavía necesitamos más dinero para terminarlo.
Oren por más obreros por el ministerio. Oren por más líderes peruanos y por más misioneros del extranjero.
Mientras que estamos aquí en los Estados Unidos estamos orando para poder ser una bendición para la gente aquí, agradar a Dios en lo que hacemos y hacer más contactos. Las semanas que vienen serán muy importantes en cuanto a eso. Yo no hablaría así si no fuera por el hecho que Dios está con nosotros y sabemos que Dios nos ha llamado a servirle fielmente, alcanzando al Perú con Su evangelio. No podemos hacerlo solos. Con el apoyo de Dios y los hermanos lo lograremos. No descansaremos hasta que todo El Perú haya escuchado las buenas nuevas. Hermanos, hay mucho que hacer. ¡Espíritu Santo, llénanos de ti!
We were speaking with a mission’s pastor the other day. We talked about the idea of forming a small business to help provide for the needs of the ministry, the people of the church and those that desire to serve the Lord in other areas of Peru. The pastor was very enthusiastic hearing about all of this. He confirmed that it is something we should do. We have to really put our best foot forward in this. The ministry is growing and we don’t want to depend on other countries more than necessary. We want to rely on the Lord as we always have but allow Him to use our strength, the creativity He gives us and the determination He supplies as well. Pray that the Lord will open doors for us as a church.
Pray for the provision necessary so that we will be able to finish the building in Puente Piedra. We still need more money to finish the project.
Pray for more workers for the ministry. Pray for more Peruvian leaders and more foreign missionaries.
While we’re here in the States we’re praying to be a blessing for the people here, please the Lord in all we do and make more contacts as well. The coming weeks will be very important in regard to this. I wouldn’t speak this way if it weren’t for the fact that we know that God has called us to serve Him faithfully, reaching Peru with the gospel. We can’t do it alone. We know that with the Lord’s help and with the help of our brothers in the faith we can do it. We won’t rest until all of Peru has heard the good news. Brothers, there is much to be done. Holy Spirit, fill us with yourself!

It’s so important to remember today that God is the one that can help us and that the help of man is not only not is good, it’s useless. God desires to not only help us, he even desires that we do valiantly. May God go before you today.

Ellos viven en Orlando y están orando y levantando apoyo financiero para poder mudarse a Lima como misioneros. Jack quiere ayudarme en la escuela de discípulado en ingles. Susan desea enseñar ingles como una forma de ayudar a los peruanos y alcanzar a más gente con el evangelio. debemos orar por ellos. Su deseo es mudarse a Lima en los primeros meses de 2007. Depende de su apoyo financiero.
Una experiencia buena… salí de la casa en la mañana para hacer un poco de ejercicio. Vi la piel de un cascabel al lado de la pista. Media hora después vi a un alligator (animal tipo cocodrilo) en el rio. Era muy grande y maravilloso. Una caminata impresionante.
El miércoles compartir la palabra de Dios en Calvary Chapel Orange Park Florida. Allí mi amigo Chris Friedrich está pastoreando. Fue bueno ver a unos amigos que no hemos visto hace tres años. Aprecio mucho a Pastor Chris pero estamos llegando a la vejez y por eso nos acostamos temprano esta vez. A las dos de la madrugada le dije que tenía que dormir. La costumbre es acostarnos a las 3:00 a.m. Pasamos una buena parte de la mañana el dia de ayer con Pastor Chris y su esposa Elaine. Son muy buenas personas. Pastor Chris es un hombre radical y conocido como el problemático entre unos pastores de las iglesias de Calvary Chapel en Florida. Yo lo conozco bien y se que Chris se preocupa por lo que está pasando en muchas iglesias igual que yo.
Anoche fuimos a la casa de Robin y Tracy. Ellos son amigos de Boynton Beach. Están planeando mudarse a Lima en Junio de 2007 como misioneros. La idea es ministrar con Koinonia unos 2 años y luego fundar una iglesia en otro lugar en El Perú. Ellos, igual que Jack y Susan están levantando apoyo financiero para su ministerio. Estamos orando por ellos igual que por Jack y Susan porque sabemos que serán de gran bendición para todos.
Esta tarde tenemos una reunión con un pastor aquí en Florida y en la noche estaremos en la casa de nuestros amigos J.P. y Heather. J.P. es pastor asistente de la iglesia de Calvary Chapel Miami Beach. Ellos han ofrecido invitar a gente a su casa para que podamos compartir sobre lo que Dios está haciendo en El Perú.

A good experience… I left Jack and Susan’s house to do a little exercise. While walking I saw a rattlesnake skin on the side of the road. About a half hour later I was walking along side a river and I saw a big alligator. It was marvelous. That was a great walk.
I shared from God’s word on Wednesday night at Calvary Chapel Orange Park Florida. Mi friend Chris Friedrich is pastoring the church there. It was good to see some friends that we haven’t seen in three years. I really love Pastor Chris but we’re getting old and weren’t able to keep up our routine. We only talked until 2:00 a.m. Normally we talk until three when we get together but this year I had to cut it short and go to bed. We spent a good part of yesterday morning with Chris and his wife Elaine. They’re just awesome people. Chris in known as one of the problem pastors in Florida but I know him well and I know that he’s just very concerned about what’s happening in a lot of the churches just like me.
Last night we went to Robin and Tracy’s house. They’re some friends from Boynton Beach that are planning to move to Peru in June of 2007 as missionaries. The idea is to work with us in Koinonia for about 2 years and then move to another area of Peru and start a church. Just like Jack and Susan, they’re raising financial support for their ministry. We’re praying for them as well as Jack and Susan because we know that they’ll be a great blessing for everyone.
This afternoon we have a meeting with a pastor here in Florida and this evening we’ll be at J.P. and Heather’s house. J.P. is assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Miami Beach. They’ve offered to invite people to their house so that we can share regarding what God is doing in Peru.
God willing I’ll be writing some more tomorrow.

Estos días These Days
Sorry that I haven’t written anything the last few days. I was up in north central Florida spending time with a few friends, meeting with some pastors and attending a men’s conference. I taught at Calvary Chapel Gainesville on Sunday morning. What a great few days. It was great to see the Cousino’s and Dot Steitz. They’re friends from my Salvation Army days. I saw Frank Muñoz on Sunday afternoon also. We were so happy to see each other. Keep praying for us as we travel raising awareness and support for the ministry in Peru. Here are a few pictures of what’s been happening the last few days.

Yo estaba en la parte del norte, central de Florida pasando tiempo con amigos, asistiendo a una reunión de pastores y una conferencia para hombres también. Enseñé la palabra en Calvary Chapel Gainesville el domingo en la mañana también. Han sido días recontra buenos. Fue mostro ver a los Cousino’s y a Dot Steitz. Muchos te compartirían sus tristes secretos pero la marca de la intimidad es compartir con alguien nuestro gozo secreto. ¿Le hemos permitido a Dios compartir con nosotros sus gozos, o seguimos contándole a Dios nuestros secretos tanto que no hay tiempo para que el nos hable a nosotros?
En el comienzo de la vida cristiana estamos llenos de peticiones, luego entendemos que Dios quiere que tengamos una relación con él, quiere que lleguemos a tener contacto con Sus propósitos. ¿Nos hemos unido a la idea de Jesucristo acerca de la oración? “Hágase tu voluntad”-que capturemos los secretos de Dios?
Las cosas que nos hacen tener cariño a Dios no son tanto sus bendiciones grandes sino las cosas pequeñas, porque muestran Su intimidad maravillosa con nosotros. El conoce cada detalle de nuestras vidas como individuos.

” The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him…” - Psalms 25:14
What is the sign of a friend? That he tells you secret Sorrows? No, that he tells you secret joys. Many will confide to you their secret sorrows, but the last mark of intimacy is to confide secret joys. Have we ever let God tell us any of His joys, or are we telling God our secrets so continually that we leave no room for Him to talk to us?
At the beginning of our Christian life we are full of requests to God, then we find that God wants to get us into relationship with Himself, to get us in touch with His purposes. Are we so wedded to Jesus Christ’s idea of prayer - “Thy will be done” - that we catch the secrets of God?
The things that make God dear to us are not so much His great big blessings as the tiny things, because they show His amazing intimacy with us; He knows every detail of our individual lives.
