Si Dios te ha llamado a ser realmente como Jesús, El te traerá a una vida de crucifixión y humildad y pondrá sobre ti demandas de obediencia. No podrás compararte con los otros cristianos y en muchas maneras El, aparentemente permitirá a la otra gente buena hacer cosas que nunca te permite a ti hacer.

Otros cristianos y ministros que parecen ser muy religiosos y útiles, los que saben promocionar y desarrollar proyectos, llevar a cabo metas cristianas… pero estas cosas tu simplemente no podrías hacer. Otros se jactan de sus escrituras o sus éxitos pero el Espíritu Santo no te permite hacerlo en ninguna manera y si lo intentas una vez, El te llevará a una mortificación que te hará despreciarte a ti mismo y todas tus buenas obras.

Otros serán permitidos a tener éxito en hacer mucho dinero pero es muy probable que Dios te mantenga en la pobreza porque él quiere que tengas algo que vale mucho más que el oro, a saber el depender desamparadamente de él y experimentar el gozo de esperar en él completamente, por tus necesidades día tras día de su tesoro invisible.

El Señor tal vez dejará a otros ser honrados mientras que te mantiene escondido y no apreciado, porque él quiere producir un fruto fragante y especial para Su gloria venidera, que solo puede ser producido en la sombra.

Quizás permitirá a otros trabajar por él y recibir el crédito por su trabajo mientras te manda a trabajar y trabajar y trabajar sin saber cuanto estas haciendo y así, hacer tu obra preciosa más preciosa todavía. Tal vez permitirá a otros tomar el crédito por lo que has hecho y así premiarte diez veces más cuando venga Jesús. El Espíritu Santo te va a reprochar por palabritas o cosas que haces o hasta sentimientos o por perder el tiempo. Son cosas que no son preocupantes para otros cristianos pero tienes que decidir en la mente que Dios es un Dios infinito y Soberano y que tiene todo el derecho de hacer lo que quiere con lo suyo. Tal vez no te explicará un mil cosas que son rompecabezas para ti, en cuanto a porque Dios te trata como te trata pero si estás dispuesto a someterte a él en todo, él te envolverá en un amor celoso y derramará sobre ti las bendiciones que solo llegan a los que están cerca de Su corazón.

Decídete entonces, que él tendrá el privilegio de probar tu lengua, encadenar tu mano y cerrar tus ojos en maneras que Él decide aún, cuando parece que no lo hace con los demás. Ahora, cuando estás poseído del Dios viviente y tu corazón secreto será deleitado y satisfecho con esta custodia y gestión peculiar, personal, privada, y celosa del Espíritu Santo sobre tu vida, verás que ya has entrado al vestíbulo del cielo.

If God has called you to be really like Jesus, He will draw you into a life of crucifixion and humility, and put upon you such demands of obedience, that you will not be able to measure yourself by other Christians; and in many ways He will seem to let other good people do things which He will never let you do.

Other Christians and ministers, who seem very religious and useful, can push themselves, pull wires and work schemes to carry out their Christian goals, but these things you simply cannot do.
Others may boast of their writings or their success, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing, and if you ever try it, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all of your good works.

Others may be allowed to succeed in making money, but most likely God will keep you poor, because He wants you to have something far better than gold, namely, a helpless dependence on Him and the joy of seeing Him supply your need day by day out of an unseen treasury.

The Lord may let others be honored and keep you hidden and unappreciated because He wants to produce some choice, fragrant fruit for His coming glory, which can only produce in the shade. He may let others do a work for Him and get the credit for it, but He will make you work on and on without knowing how much you are doing, and then, to make your work still more precious, He may let others get the credit for the work which you have done, and thus make your reward ten times greater when Jesus comes.
The Holy Spirit will rebuke you for little words or deeds or even feelings, or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem to be concerned about, but you must make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign and He has a right to do whatever He pleases with His own. He may not explain to you a thousand things which puzzle your reason in the way He deals with you, but if you will just submit yourself to Him in all things, He will wrap you up in a jealous love and bestow upon you many blessings which come only to those who are very near to His heart.

Settle it, then, that He is to have the privilege of trying your tongue, or chaining your hand, or closing your eyes, in ways that He does not seem to use with others. Now, when you are so possessed with the living God that your secret heart becomes pleased and delighted with this peculiar, personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, then you will have entered the very vestibule of heaven itself.

El Video The Video

Esta mañana terminamos de grabar la primera parte de un video que estamos haciendo acerca de los ministerios de Koinonia. Queremos entregar copias a la gente en los Estados Unidos cuando vayamos en el mes de Octubre. Queremos que mas gente sepa y colabore con lo que está pasando aquí. Necesitamos mucha oración y queremos que la obra siga creciendo. Oren por la producción del video y por su distrbución mas luego. Mil gracias a Jaime y David por su apoyo.

Just this morning we finished filming the first part of a video that we're making about the ministries of Koinonia. We want to give copies of it to people in the United States when we go in October. We want more people to know and participate in what's happening here. We need a lot of prayer and we want the work to keep growing. Pray for the production of the video and for it's distribution as well. Many thanks to Jaime and David for their help.

You Can't Do It No Lo Puedes Hacer

Joshua 24:19-20
But Joshua said to the people, “You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. “If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and consume you, after He has done you good.”[1]

The meaning is, God's service is not, as you seem to fancy, a slight and easy thing, but it is a work of great difficulty, and requires great care, and courage and resolution; and when I consider the infinite purity of God, that he will not be mocked or abused; and withal your proneness to superstition and idolatry, even during the life of Moses, and in some of you, while I live, and while the obligations which God had laid upon you in this land, are fresh in remembrance; I cannot but fear that after my decease you will think the service of God burdensome, and therefore will cast it off and revolt from him, if you do not carefully avoid all occasions of idolatry.

Kristel

Pasé un tiempo bonito hablando con Kristel hoy día después del estudio bíblico en la mañana. Kristel es de Cañete y está estudiando para ser enfermera. Estaba aquí en Lima por la conferencia de mujeres. Es bueno saber que Dios está obrando en su vida mucho. Ella está testificando de Cristo y predicando a la gente en su mundo 2 horas al sur de Lima donde se congrega en Koinonia Cañete con Pastor Jaime. La conocí hace años cuando le entregue un folleto mientras que estaba manejando su bicileta. Gracias Señor por cambiar su vida. Gracias Kristel por compartir conmigo. Me animaste.

I had a nice time talking with Kristel today after this morning's Bible study. Kristel is from Cañete and is studying to be a nurse. She was here in Lima this weekend for the women's conference. It's good to know that God is working in her life a lot. She's testifying and preaching the gospel in her world two hours to the south of Lima where she fellowships at Koinonia Cañete with Pastor Jaime. I met her years ago when I handed her a tract as she rode by on her bicycle. Thanks Lord for changing her life. Thanks Kristel for sharing with me. You encouraged me.

Conferencia de Mujeres Women's Conference

Oren por las mujeres de Koinonia porque están participando en la conferencia de mujeres de Calvary Chapel Peru hoy día. Mi esposa Betty está enseñando con otras mujeres. Sabemos que va a ser una bendición para ellas poder estar juntas estudiando la palabra.

Pray for the women of Koinonia because they're participating a the Calvary Chapel Peru women's conference today. My wife Betty will be teaching along with other women. We know that it will be a blessing for the women to be together studying the word.

Cuando vi esta foto recordé de Pastor Chuck. No, Pastor Chuck y estas niñas no se parecen para nada pero me hizo pensar en lo que dijo, “Benditos los flexibles porque no serán quebrantados.”

When I saw this picture I remembered Pastor Chuck. No, Pastor Chuck and these girls don’t look alike at all. The picture made me remember what he said, “Blessed are the flexible for they will not be broken.”

Subió a Una Colina He Went Up the Mountain

Juán 6:3
“Entonces subió Jesús a una colina y se sentó con sus discípulos.”

Antes de multiplicar el pan y pescado en una manera milagrosa, Jesús “subió a una colina y se sentó con sus discípulos.” Este hecho es algo digno de mencionar. Parece obvio que Jesús se retiró de la multitud que le buscaba.

Hay ciertas cosas que nunca vamos a aprender cuando hay otra gente presente. Yo creo en la iglesia y me encanta el compañerismo de la asamblea. Podemos aprender mucho cuando nos reunimos los domingos y tomamos un asiento en medio de los santos pero hay ciertas cosas que tú y yo nunca aprendemos en la presencia de otros.

Sin duda una parte de nuestro fracaso hoy día en cuanto a la actividad religiosa es que no ha sido precedido por un tiempo solitario sin actividad. Quiero decir estar a solas con Dios esperando en silencio y tranquilidad hasta que estamos cargados (llenos) del Espíritu de Dios. Entonces, cuando actuamos, nuestra actividad realmente llega a ser algo porque hemos sido preparados por Dios para la obra…

Ahora, en el caso de nuestro Señor, la gente lo buscaba reporte Juan, y él estaba listo a recibirlos a todos. Ya había estado quieto y en silencio. Había sentado a solas con sus discípulos y meditando. Mirando hacía arriba, él esperó hasta la pausa entera de la vida divina se movió hacia abajo desde el trono de Dios y entró a su alma. Era como un violín afinado. Era como una batería recargada. Él estaba listo y preparado cuando llegó la gente.

“Señor, voy a pasar mucho tiempo en la compañía de otras personas hoy día pero ahora mismo quiero venir en tranquilidad y silencio y esperar a ti. Voy a esperar hasta que me hayas llenado. Amen.”

And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples. –John 6:3

Just prior to this miraculous multiplying of the bread and fish, Jesus “went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples”(6:3). That fact is noteworthy. It seems plain that Jesus withdrew purposely from the great press of people who had been pursuing Him.
There are some things that you and I will never learn when others are present. I believe in church and I love the fellowship of the assembly. There is much we can learn when we come together on Sundays and sit among the saints. But there are certain things that you and I will never learn in the presence of other people.

Unquestionably, part of our failure today is religious activity that is not preceded by aloneness, by inactivity. I mean getting alone with God and waiting in silence and quietness until we are charged with God’s Spirit. Then, when we act, our activity really amounts to something because we have been prepared by God for it….

Now, in the case of our Lord, the people came to Him, John reports, and He was ready for them. He had been quiet and silent. He had sat alone with His disciples and meditated. Looking upward, He waited until the whole hiatus of divine life moved down from the throne of God into His own soul. He was a violin tuned. He was a battery recharged. He was poised and prepared for the people when they came.

“Lord, I’ll spend a lot of time in the company of people today, but just now I come in quietness and silence to wait for You to fill me. Amen.”

Estudio Bíblico Nuevo los Domingos New Bible Study on Sundays

El domingo 17 de Setiembre estaremos iniciando un estudio bíblico adicional a las 7:00 p.m. Dios mediante estaremos estudiando juntos todos los domingos. Estaremos estudiando el libro de Los Hechos de Los Apóstoles para comenzar. En estos días estamos coordinando con la P.N.P., el Serenazgo de Surco, el Serenazgo de San Juan, con todos los choferes de los micros, etc. para que todos puedan llegar tranquilos pero aún estamos anticipando 2-3 millones de personas(tal vez unos cuantos menos) para el primer estudio bíblico. Te recomiendo llegar temprano para poder ocupar el asiento más cerca.

En serio... no lo quieres perder. ¡Anímate!

Sunday the 17th of September we will be starting a new Bible study at 7:00 p.m. God willing we´ll be studying together every Sunday. We´ll be studying the Acts of the Apostles to start with. These days we´re busy coordinating with the Peruvian National Police, the security from Surco and San Juan and all of the bus drivers here in Lima so that everyone will be able to get to the Bible study without any problems. Having said all that, we are expecting between 2-3 million people (maybe a few less) for the first study. I recommend that you get here early so that you can get a seat down front.

Seriously... you don´t want to miss out. Come on out!

Yo Estaré Contigo I'll Be With You

Éxodo 3:12
“Yo estaré contigo le respondió Dios.”

Por supuesto, si el Señor le mandó a Moisés para cumplir con un deber no le permitiría ir solo. El riesgo tremendo que involucraba y el gran poder que requería la tarea hicieron que todo fuera ridículo para Dios enviar a un hebreo solo a confrontar el rey más poderoso en todo el mundo y dejar a Moisés solo.

No se puede imaginar que un Dios sabio pondría al pobre Moisés en contra del Faraón y los enormes ejércitos de Egipto. Por eso Dios le dice, “yo estaré contigo” como si fuera imposible enviarlo solo.

En mi caso también Dios hace lo mismo. Si me manda a hacer una tarea con una simple confianza y dependencia de su poder y teniendo como el propósito único Su gloria es seguro que Él estará conmigo. Si Él me manda, Él tiene que respaldarme. ¿No es eso suficiente? ¿Qué más podría desear? Si todos los ángeles y arcángeles estuvieran conmigo podría fracasar; pero si Él está conmigo, tengo que tener éxito.

Solo tengo que tener cuidado de vivir en una manera digna en cuanto a su promesa. No debo ir tímidamente, ni de mala gana, sin prestar atención o siendo atrevido. ¡Que clase de persona debe ser la persona si Dios está con él! En esta compañía me animo y me conviene ser el hombre, y como Moisés entró a la presencia del Faraón sin temor.

Of course, if the Lord sent Moses on an errand, He would not let him go alone. The tremendous risk which it would involve and the great power it would require would render it ridiculous for God to send a poor lone Hebrew to confront the mightiest king in all the world and then leave him to himself.
It could not be imagined that a wise God would match poor Moses with Pharaoh and the enormous forces of Egypt. Hence He says, “Certainly I will be with thee,” as if it were out of the question that He would send him alone.
In my case, also, the same rule will hold good. If I go upon the Lord’s errand with a simple reliance upon His power and a single eye to His glory, it is certain that He will be with me. His sending me binds Him to back me up. Is not this enough? What more can I want? If all the angels and arch-angels were with me. I might fail; but if He is with me, I must succeed.
Only let me take care that I act worthily toward this promise. Let me not go timidly, halfheartedly, carelessly, presumptuously. What manner of person ought he to be who has God with him! In such company it behooves me to play the man and, like Moses, go in unto Pharaoh without fear.

La Clínica The Clinic

Anoche fuí a la clínica porque estaba con dolores estomacales muy fuertes. Me pusieron en el mismo cuarto donde pusieron a mi amigo Sergio cuando llegó hace no mucho tiempo. El falleció en la misma clínica donde yo fuí anoche. Bueno, aquí estoy esta mañana escribiendo en el blog. Parece que me tienen que aguantar más tiempo todavía.

I went to the clinic last night because I was suffering from severe stomach pain. They put me in the same room where the put my friend Sergio not long ago. He died in the same clinic that I went to last night. Well, here I am writing in the blog this morning so you'll have to put up with me a while longer!

“Mi alimento es hacer la voluntad del que me envió y terminar su obra --les dijo Jesús.”

Las personas mas infelices en el mundo son las personas que viven pensando solo en si misma. Todo lo que hacen, lo hacen por su propio bien. Para estas personas egocéntricas, la cosa más preciosa en el mundo es su propio ser. Como un cáncer que come y destruye sus propias células, la persona egocéntrica está muriéndose internamente poco a poco.

A veces estos individuos egocéntricos enmascaran su preocupación por su bienestar mental y física insistiendo que es “para la familia”. Están cegados por los placeres y comodidades de este mundo y solo buscan gratificar a si mismos mientras acaparan sus cosas lujosas en sus hogares. Cegados a la verdad de la eternidad, no pueden ver sus necesidades verdaderas ni las necesidades de los que los rodean.

A veces por sentirse culpable hacen “algo bueno” pero cuando lo hacen es con un ojo fijado en la gloria que va a tener su nombre y la alabanza, influencia y poder que esperan recibir por el acto. Si estas glorias no les siguen la persona egocéntrica que hace buenas obras se vuelve insolente, molesto e infeliz. La amargura reemplace el gozo porque mientras que las obras eran buenas el motivo interno era corrupto.

¡Que tal cambio cuando llegamos poner a Jesús en el centro de nuestras vidas-cuando podemos decir honestamente, “Señor, me gusta hacer todo lo que a ti, te agrada!” Nuestra prioridad no debe ser gozo propio ni nuestra felicidad, sino la voluntad de Dios, Su nombre, Su causa. Haciendo lo que hacemos por el amor de Dios hace toda la diferencia en el mundo. Entonces sin buscarlo, el gozo y la felicidad nos siguen.

Es bueno preguntarnos a nosotros mismos, “¿Por qué hago lo que estoy haciendo?” y “¿Por qué no estoy haciendo las cosas que sé necesitan ser cumplidas?” “No hay gozo en mi corazón y estoy vacío aún haciendo cosas buenas ¿Por qué?”Es muy probable que la respuesta sea: que no estamos haciendo las buenas obras para la gloria de Dios sino para nuestro propio placer. Es posible, como alguien ha sugerido, estar sirviendo en la casa de Dios olvidándonos del Señor de la casa. “para mi, el vivir es Cristo,” escribió el Apóstol Pablo. Dijo que hacía todo “por tu causa.” Que hoy día y siempre, vivamos para hacer todo para “Su Causa”.

“Jesus said to them, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.’” - John 4:34

The most unhappy people in the world are the ones who live only for themselves. All that they do, they do only for their own sake. For these self- centered individuals, the most precious things in the world is their “self.” Like a cancer that eats and destroys its own cells, the self-centered individual is slowly dying inwardly.
Sometimes these self-centered individuals mask their concern for their own physical and mental welfare by insisting that it is for “their family.” They are blinded by the pleasures and comforts of this world, and seek only to gratify themselves as they hoard luxuries within their households. Blinded to the truth of eternity, they cannot see either their own true needs or the needs of the multitudes around them.
Sometimes, out of guilt, they will “do something good.” But when they do, it is with one eye toward the glory that will come to their name, and the praise, influence and power that will hopefully follow. And if these glories do not follow, the self-centered “do-gooder” then becomes insolent, upset and unhappy. Bitterness replaces joy, because while the deeds were good, the inner motive was corrupt.
But what a change when we come to the place in our life when we put Jesus in the center–when we can honestly say, “Lord, for thy sake I am glad to do all that pleases you.” Our priority must not be our own joy and happiness, but God’s will, His name, His cause. Doing anything we do for His sake makes all the difference in the world. Then, without seeking it, the joy and happiness follow.
It is well to ask ourselves, “Why am I doing what I do. And why am I not doing some things I know need to be done? Why is there no joy in my heart and I feel empty, even doing good?” The answer could very well be this: our good works are no longer being done for His sake, but for our own pleasure. It is possible, as someone suggested, to be serving the house of God and to have forgotten the Lord who is Master of the house. “For me to live is Christ,” wrote the Apostle Paul. He said he did all things; “For Thy Sake.” May we this day–and always–live to do all things for His

¡Levántense! ¡Vámonos!

Los discípulos se quedaron dormidos cuando debían estar despiertos. Cuando entendieron lo que habían hecho, ese entendimiento produjo la desesperación. El sentido de lo irreparable tiende a llevarnos a la desesperación y decimos-“Ya es muy tarde, no hay esperanza y no vale la pena intentar de nuevo.” Si imaginamos que este tipo de desesperación es excepcional, estamos equivocados, es una experiencia común y corriente.

Cuando vemos que no hemos hecho lo correcto cuando tuvimos una oportunidad magnífica, tendemos a hundirnos en la desesperación y viene Jesucristo y nos dice, “Siguen durmiendo, esta oportunidad se ha perdido para siempre, no puedes cambiarlo pero luego levantate y haz lo que sigue. Dejad el pasado dormir, pero dormir sobre el seno de Cristo, sal al futuro irresistible con Él.

Todos experimentamos cosas así en nuestras vidas. Estamos desesperados, la desesperación que surge de las actualidades y no podemos levantarnos de ella. Los discípulos en este instante han hecho algo imperdonable, han dormido en vez de mantenerse despiertos con Él, pero vino Cristo con una iniciativa espiritual en contra de su desesperación y dijo, “Levántense y hagan la cosa siguiente.”

Si tenemos la inspiración de Dios, ¿Cuál es la cosa siguiente? Es confiar en Él completamente y orar sobre la base de su redención.

Nunca dejes el sentir del fracaso corromper tu nueva acción.

“Rise, let us be going.” Matthew 26:46

The disciples went to sleep when they should have kept awake, and when they realized what they had done it produced despair. The sense of the irreparable is apt to make us despair, and we say - “It is all up now, it is no use trying any more.” If we imagine that this kind of despair is exceptional, we are mistaken, it is a very ordinary human experience.

Whenever we realize that we have not done that which we had a magnificent opportunity of doing, then we are apt to sink into despair; and Jesus Christ comes and says - “Sleep on now, that opportunity is lost for ever, you cannot alter it, but arise and go to the next thing.” Let the past sleep, but let it sleep on the bosom of Christ, and go out into the irresistible future with Him.

There are experiences like this in each of our lives. We are in despair, the despair that comes from actualities, and we cannot lift ourselves out of it. The disciples in this instance had done a downright unforgivable thing; they had gone to sleep instead of watching with Jesus, but He came with a spiritual initiative against their despair and said - “Arise and do the next thing.”
If we are inspired of God, what is the next thing? To trust Him absolutely and to pray on the ground of His Redemption.

Los Chicos de La Cruceta The guys from La Cruceta

El sábado los chicos de Calvary Chapel Surco (La Cruceta) fueron a Villa Maria con nosotros. Hicieron mimos y presentaron un programa de payasos también. Fue un buen tiempo en lo cual predicamos la palabra de Dios. El grupo de magos de California también fue y presentó su show a la vez. Estamos muy agradecidos a todos por haber participado. Fue bueno para nosotros de Koinonia poder sentarnos y disfrutar. Eperamos que vuelvan pronto los de Surco. Muchas Gracias.
This past Saturday the guys from Calvary Chapel Surco (La Cruceta) went with us to Villa Maria. They did mimes and a clown show for the children. It was a good time and for those of us from Surco that go every week it was nice to just kind of sit back and enjoy. The magicians from California were there too. They presented the gospel with their show too. Thanks so much to everyone that participated. We hope that the guys from Surco will be able to join us again soon.

The Will of God La Voluntad de Dios

“…that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

But how may we know God’s will? That is not always easy. Yet the difficulty is not in Him. He does not wish us to grope painfully in the dark. Nay, He is ever giving us many signs and hints as to the way we should take, too delicate to be perceived by the coarse eye of sense, but clear enough to those who are divested of self-will and pride, and only anxious to know and do the holy and acceptable and perfect will of God. It is a mistake to seek a sign from heaven; to run from counselor to counselor; to cast a lot; or to trust to some chance coincidence. Not that God may not reveal His will thus; but because it is hardly the behavior of a child with its Father. There is a more excellent way. Let the heart be quieted and stilled in the presence of God; weaned from all earthly distractions and worldly ambitions. Let the voice of the Son of God hush into perfect rest the storms that sweep the lake of the inner life, and ruffle its calm surface.

Let the whole being be centered on God Himself. And then, remembering that all who lack
wisdom are to ask it of God, and that Jesus Christ is already made unto us wisdom, let us quietly appropriate Him, in that capacity, by faith; and then go forward, perhaps not conscious of any increase of wisdom, or able to see far in front; but sure that we shall be guided, as each new step must be taken, or word spoken, or decision made. It is an immense help in any difficulty to say, “I take thee, Lord Jesus, as my wisdom,” and to do the next thing, nothing doubting; assured the He will not permit those how trust in Him to be ashamed.

¿Como podemos conocer la voluntad de Dios A veces no es fácil. La dificultad no es por parte de Él. Él no quiere que busquemos dolorosamente en las tinieblas. No, Dios siempre está enviándonos muchas señales y pistas acerca del camino que debemos seguir. Son señales demasiado delicadas para poder ser detectadas por el sentido del ojo, pero suficientemente claras para aquellas personas despojadas de la voluntad propia y el orgullo, para aquellas personas que están ansiosas de conocer y hacer la santa, aceptable y perfecta voluntad de Dios. Es una equivocación buscar una señal del cielo; correr de consejero a consejero; echar suertes o confiar en coincidencias o casualidades. No es que Dios no podría revelar su voluntad así. Es porque así no es la conducta de un hijo con su papá. Existe una manera mejor. Dejar el corazón estar quieto y en silencio en la presencia de Dios: Separado de todas las distracciones y ambiciones mundanas.

Permitir la voz del hijo de Dios callar en descanso perfecto las tormentas que remueven el lago de la vida interna e irritan la superficie que estaba tranquila antes. Dejad el ser completo encontrar su equis en Dios mismo. Recordad que todos aquellos que les falta la sabiduría deben pedírsela a Dios y que Jesucristo ya es la sabiduría para nosotros. Tranquilamente la apropiamos a Jesús en esta capacidad por fe. Luego seguimos adelante, tal vez no conscientes de un aumento en sabiduría o capaces de ver más allá pero seguros que estaremos siendo guiados mientras que tomamos cada paso necesario o hablamos cada palabra o tomamos cada decisión. Es un apoyo inmenso en cualquier dificultad poder decir, “Yo te tomo a ti como mi sabiduría Señor Jesús” y luego hacer la cosa que nos espera sin dudar; con la certeza que él no permitirá a aquellos que confían en él, de ser avergonzados.

After the Bible study this morning the kids from Cañete went to El Parque de la Amistad (Friendship Park) here in Surco. It´s a really beautiful park. I´ll put some more pictures later. The kids will be ministering with us tonigh in Villa Maria.

Some of the teenagers from Cañete have come to spend the weekend with us here in Surco. This morning David Caplivski taught them from the book of 1 Samuel. He spoke about the sin of lust and true love. Good job David.

Los jueves alabamos al Señor con toda la iglesia y luego dividimos a la gente de la iglesia en grupos pequeños, los hombres con hombres y mujeres con mujeres. Estoy dejando a otras personas de la iglesia dirigir los grupos y yo me quedo en la puerta.

Anoche todos estaban en sus grupos pequeños y yo estaba en la puerta pensando en cosas. Honestamente estaba un poco desanimado. Me di cuenta que los niños no estaban haciendo bulla para nada. Estefany tiene 13 años. Mi hijo Marco dice que ella enseña bien. De lo que yo sepa, no pedimos a Estefany enseñar a los niños anoche. Ella entró para cuidarlos no más pero terminó enseñándoles y orando con ellos. Estaba orando con mucha pasión también. Señor gracias por la obra que estás haciendo con los niños y gracias por animarme atravez de Estefany.

Oremos para que nuestros niños sean como plantas maduras en su juventud, para que no pasen por lo que muchos de nosotros hemos pasado antes de conocer a Cristo. Oremos para que nuestras hijas sean estables y firmes en su fe como pilares.

On Thursday nights we all worship together and then we divide the people in small groups, the men with men and the women with women. I’m letting others lead the groups and I stay at the door as the usher.
Last night I was at the door and I was thinking about things. Honestly, I was a little discouraged. At one point I realized that the children weren’t making noise. Being a father, I know that when the children aren’t making noise something isn’t right. I went to check the situation out. I opened the door to the classroom slowly. I saw all of the children praying with their teacher Estefany. Estefany is 13 years old. My son Marco says that she teaches really well. As far as I know we didn’t ask her to teach last night. She went into the classroom to help take care of the children and ended up teaching them and praying with them. She was praying with such passion! Thanks Lord for the work that you’re doing in the children and thanks for encouraging me through Estefany.

Let’s pray that God will raise up our children to be as plants grown up in their youth, that they will be mature in the Lord even as children instead of having to experience. Let’s pray that our daughters will be stable and firm in their faith like pillars

The Worship of Tears

1Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus--the man he had raised from the dead. 2A dinner was prepared in Jesus' honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him. 3Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus' feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance. 4But Judas Iscariot, the disciple who would soon betray him, said, 5"That perfume was worth a year's wages. It should have been sold and the money given to the poor." 6Not that he cared for the poor--he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples' money, he often stole some for himself.
John 12:1-6

We always find her at His feet. In Luke 10, she receives a scolding from her sister for sitting at Jesus' feet. In John 11 she collapses at His feet when He comes to deal with the death of her brother Lazarus. In the passage above, she is there once more, wetting His feet with her tears. And finally, after the Resurrection of Jesus, we see her holding onto Him for joy. Though there is no specific word about His feet, when Jesus says, "You don’t have to hold on to me, I haven't ascended to my Father yet," I believe John assumes we understand that she has fallen once more and is clinging to His feet.

We sometimes speak of worship as "coming to the feet of Jesus," but we don't tend to bring what Mary brought as her offering. In Luke, it is her curiosity and willingness to learn. At the death of Lazarus, it is her disappointment she brings. At the supper, her sorrows are what she has brought, along with the perfume. And finally in the garden, it is first her confusion and then her relief.

Wouldn't you like to be known as the person who is always at the feet of Jesus? Look at what Mary brought. Look now at what you have to bring.

La Alabanza de lágrimas

Juan 12:1-6
Seis días antes de la Pascua llegó Jesús a Betania, donde vivía Lázaro, a quien Jesús había resucitado. Allí se dio una cena en honor de Jesús. Marta servía, y Lázaro era uno de los que estaban a la mesa con él. María tomó entonces como medio litro de nardo puro, que era un perfume muy caro, y lo derramó sobre los pies de Jesús, secándoselos luego con sus cabellos. Y la casa se llenó de la fragancia del perfume. Judas Iscariote, que era uno de sus discípulos y que más tarde lo traicionaría, objetó: ¿Por qué no se vendió este perfume, que vale muchísimo dinero,* para dárselo a los pobres? Dijo esto, no porque se interesara por los pobres sino porque era un ladrón y, como tenía a su cargo la bolsa del dinero, acostumbraba robarse lo que echaban en ella.

Ella siempre está a los pies del Señor. En Lucas 10 ella es regañada por su hermana porque había tomado su asiento a los pies de Jesús. En Juan 11 cae a sus pies cuando él llega a tratar con la muerte de su hermano Lázaro. En el pasaje arriba, allí está ella de nuevo, mojando los pies de Jesús con sus lágrimas. Al final la encontramos después de la resurrección de Jesús, la vemos agarrando a Jesús y llena de gozo. Aunque en esta oportunidad el pasaje no menciona sus pies específicamente, cuando Jesús le dice, “No tienes que agarrarme, no he ascendido a mi Padre todavía,” yo creo que Juan asume que entendemos que ella ha caído una vez mas y está agarrada a los pies de Jesús otra vez.

A veces cuando hablamos de la alabanza y adoración hablamos de estar “a los pies de Jesús” pero no tendemos a traer lo que trajo María como ofrenda. En Lucas, es su curiosidad y disponibilidad a aprender. Cuando Lázaro falleció trajo desilusión. En la cena había traido sus penas con perfume. Al final en el jardín, primero trae su confusión y luego su alivio.

¿No te gustaría ser conocido como la persona que siempre está a los pies de Jesús? Mira lo que trajo María. Ahora mira lo que tú puedes traer.

El grupo de Calvary Chapel Riverside fue a ministrar aquí en Lima anoche antes de regresar a los Estados Unidos. Fueron a Villa Maria donde hicieron un show de títeres para los niños e hicieron una manualidad también. Me encantó su presentación de Flaco Man y Bobin. (En ves de Batman y Robin.) Así predicaron el evangelio a los niños y a los adultos también. Tim compartió un poco del libro de Santiago y Lee Ann compartió su testimonio. Me encantó el espíritu de cada miembro del grupo. Son siervos del Señor y son humildes de corazón. Realmente fueron una bendición tremenda para nosotros. Espero que vuelvan pronto.

The group from Calvary Chapel Riverside went out to minister here in Lima last night before returning to the United States. They went to Villa Maria and did a puppet show for the children and they did a craft with them too. I loved their presentation of Flaco Man (Skinny Man) and Bobin (instead of Bat Man and Robin.) They preached the gospel to the children and the adults as well using the puppets. Tim shared from the book of James and Lee Ann shared her testimony as well. I loved the spirit of each member of the team. They are real servants of the Lord and they have humble hearts. They were a tremendous blessing for us. I hope that they will come back soon.

Vino un grupo de magos y un payaso a la iglesia en Surco. Son de Escondido California. Vinieron con Pastor Roberto Vargas de Calvary Chapel Escondido. Ellos compartieron el evangelio y enseñanzas acerca de la vida cristiana con nosotros. Fue realmente lindo su show. Me encanta con la gente usa la creatividad y los talentos que Dios ha dado para glorificar Su nombre. Todos salimos de la iglesia edificados esta mañana. A group of magicians and a clown came to the church here in Surco this morning. They’re from Escondido California. They came with Pastor Roberto Vargas. He’s the pastor of Calvary Chapel Escondido. They shared the gospel and teachings on the Christian life with us. Their show and teaching is great. I love it when people use their creativity and talent for the glory of God. Everyone left the church this morning very edified. By the way, they’re going to be with us in Villa Maria this Saturday too. Could you go with us too?

Worms Gusanos

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.
The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol-Dead.
The second worm in cigarette smoke-Dead.
The third worm in chocolate syrup-Dead.
The fourth worm in good clean soil-Alive. So the minister asked the congregation-What can you learn from this demonstration?

A little old woman in the back quickly raised her hand and said, “As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate-you don’t have worms.

4 gusanos fueron colocados en 4 jarras distintas.

Títeres Puppets

Muchas gracias a Tim y Joshua de Calvary Chapel Riverside. Esta mañana se pusieron a trabajar armando un titiritero nuevo. Hace mucho tiempo hemos querido uno nuevo porque el antiguo estaba muy chiquito y muy ligero. Era muy complicado armarlo también. Este es mas grande, mejor construido, pesa mas para que el viento no lo lleve y menos complicado a armar.

Many thanks to Tim and Joshua from Calvary Chapel Riverside. They got busy this morning making a new puppet stage for us. We’ve really wanted and needed a new one for a long time. The old one was too small and very light. It was difficult to set it up too. The new one is bigger, made better, weighs more so that the wind won’t carry it away and it’s much easier to set up.

Chino Chinese

Marco y Anna, mis dos hijos mayores están estudiando chino 2 veces a la semana. Les gusta aunque dicen que es difícil. Yo estaba muy emocionado con sus clases también hasta la semana pasada. La semana pasada aprendieron como se dice “tengo 2 hermanas menores gordas”. ¿Qué vendrá después? ¡No quiere escucharlo!

Hablando en serio como padres queremos que nuestros hijos estén listos a predicar el evangelio a un montón de gente. Así los mandamos a estudiar varios idiomas. Claro que será una ventaja para ellos en cuanto al trabajo en el futuro también. Animo a los padres cristianos a buscar la manera de enseñar y preparar a sus hijos pensando en la gran comisión.

My two older children Marco and Anna are studying Chinese twice a week. They like it even though they say that it’s hard. I was really excited about their classes too until last week. Last week they learned to say, “I have two younger sisters that are fat” in Chinese! What’s coming next? I don’t want to hear it!

Speaking seriously, as parents we want our children to be prepared to preach the gospel to a lot of people. We send them to classes to learn other languages with that in mind. We know that it will also be an advantage for them in the work world of tomorrow as well. I want to encourage christian parents to look for a way to teach their children other languages and prepare their children keeping in mind the great commission.

Calvary Chapel Riverside

El grupo de Calvary Chapel Riverside llegó el sábado en la noche. El domingo ministraron a los niños de la escuela dominical aquí en Surco en la mañana y en Puente Piedra en la tarde. Hicieron títeres y manualidades con los niños. Hoy día están pintando y limpiando el local. Que bueno tenerlos aquí. Viendo como trabajan me hace pensar que sería bueno tener a un misionero aquí tiempo completo trabajando en lo que es mantenimiento del edificio, etc. Siempre hay cosas que hacer. Si no tienes el llamado de ser pastor, evangelista, líder de alabanza pero sabes pintar, tienes conocimiento de electricidad, si eres gasfitero o sabes hacer videos, o cosas así te podemos usar. Hay todo tipo de misioneros.

The group from Calvary Chapel Riverside arrived on Saturday night. Sunday morning they ministered to the children in the Sunday school here in Surco. They went to Puente Piedra in the afternoon. They did a puppet show and a craft with the children. Today they’re painting and cleaning the building. It’s great to have them here. Seeing how they work made me think how great it would be to have a full time missionary that could work in the area of maintenance. There are always things to do. If you know how to paint, if you know about electricity, plumbing or if you know how to make videos or things like that we can use you. There are all kinds of missionaries.

Jesus did things. He broke bread with a violent fanatic and invited him to be a team member (a zealot); he called a tax-collector to be his follower and then ate with that tax-collector and all his traitorous friends. He allowed a known prostitute to touch him at an important and very public social gathering. He touched lepers and dead people. He spit in dust and made mud. He whipped animals out of the Temple. He ate lots of meals with marginalized people.American Christians want an inedible version of the kingdom of God. We want nice ideas to prop up our materialistically smothered lifestyle. A nice, santitized idea of the kingdom that won't get dirt under our fingernails or snot on our clothes or blood on our hands.

We'd rather "believe" in Jesus than eat and drink him. That "meal" creates, just as it did when Jesus first offered it, a response of "this saying is too hard for us." Why?

It's concrete, not conceptual. It's strangers at our Martha Stewart tables. It's sick people sleeping between our Downy softened sheets. It's being in very hot places without air-conditioning. It's eating with people who don't know the Bible or Jesus or Doug Pagitt or Brian McLaren or Rob Bell or Marva Dawn.


Jesús hacía cosas. Los cristianos americanos quieren una versión del reino de Dios no comestible. Queremos ideas bonitas que pueden apoyar a nuestro estilo de vida materialista. Una idea del reino de Dios que sea amable y desinfectada que no mete la tierra debajo de nuestras uñas y no deja ni el moco en nuestra ropa ni la sangre en nuestras manos.

Nos es preferible “creer” en Jesús que comer y beberlo. La cena que Jesús nos ofrece crea igual que aquella vez que Jesús la ofreció la primera vez una reacción que dice, “esta enseñanza es muy difícil, ¿Quién puede aceptarla?”

¿Por qué?

Es concreto, no es conceptual. Es gente desconocida sentada en nuestra mesa de la marca Martha Stewart. Es gente enferma durmiendo entre nuestras sábanas bonitas. Es estar lugares con mucho calor sin aire acondicionado. Es comer con gente que no conoce la Biblia, ni Jesús ni Doug Pagitt o Brian Mclaren o Rob Bell o Marva Dawn.

Armor La Armadura

Simón, Simón, mira que Satanás ha pedido zarandearlos a ustedes como si fueran trigo. Pero yo he orado por ti, para que no falle tu fe.


Estos versículos nos pueden enseñar mucho. Una de las cosas que vemos aquí es que Jesús creía en el ministerio de la oración. Siendo el Hijo de Dios, él tomó tiempo para orar por Pedro. Sabía que Pedro iba a pasar por un tiempo difícil. En muy poco tiempo va a traicionar a su Señor tres veces. Tendrá que luchar en una lucha interna y externa. Jesús oró para que su fe no le fallara.

A veces oramos por amigos o situaciones y las cosas aparentemente se ponen peor. El Señor obra así a veces. Tenemos que recordar que Dios está obrando según su plan eterno y tiene su propósito eterno en todo lo que hace. El nos está refinando mientras que oramos. Podemos confiar en Dios sabiendo que está obrando en las vidas de las personas mientras que oramos por ellos. Dios nos permite pasar por el fuego a veces. Sabemos que al final terminaremos como oro puro. Nos aferramos a la promesa de Isaías 43 que dice,
“Cuando cruces las aguas, yo estaré contigo; cuando cruces los ríos, no te cubrirán sus aguas; cuando camines por el fuego, no te quemarás ni te abrasarán las llamas. Yo soy el Señor, tu Dios, el *Santo de Israel, tu salvador;

Seguiremos orando aunque ser difícil. No importa si vemos los resultados en este momento. Dios está obrando.

Hablando de lo personal…

Me llamó Michael de Miami esta mañana. Michael es un buen amigo del ministerio aquí y le damos gracias al Señor por él. Sabemos que hay unas personas como Michael que siempre oran por nosotros y el ministerio. Si eres una de esas personas, mil gracias. Te apreciamos mucho.

Luke 22:31-32
And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.[1]

We can learn a lot from these verses. One of the things that we see here is that Jesus believed in the ministry of prayer. Even being God the Son He took time to pray for Peter. He knew that Peter would face a difficult time, He would deny Jesus three times and face an internal and external struggle. Jesus prayed that his faith would not fail.

Sometimes we pray for friends and it seems like the situation only gets worse.
The Lord does that some times. We need to remember that God is working according to His eternal purposes. He’s refining us as we pray. We can trust that He´s working in the lives of the people that we pray for as well. He does allow us to pass through the fire from time to time. We know that in the end we will come forth as pure gold. We hold to the promise found in Isaiah 43 that says,
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; [2]

Let’s keep praying even when it´s hard work and we don’t seem to see the results. God is working

Lo mas tiempo que vivo estoy mas y mas convencido que puedes comprender mucha acerca de una persona por la actitud, el carácter y la sabiduría demostrada por sus amigos mas cercanos y sus consejeros.

Proverbios dice que llegamos a ser sabios por caminar con gente sabia-y que el compañero de los necios termina arruinado.

A veces el consejo bueno, franco y sabio es difícil conseguir. Para el cristiano, gente piadosa con experiencia que saben aplicar la palabra de Dios a la vida cotidiana con sus opciones y circunstancias-las que podemos controlar y las que están fuera de nuestro control- y un diálogo con gente con cierta profundidad solo se puede lograr atravez de un compromiso entre las dos personas en una relación. Mejor todavía en una relación de largo plazo. Una interacción así requiere tiempo y esfuerzo, también requiere la disposición de correr el riesgo de tener el ego dañado. Los motivos egoístas y la ambición personal sin restricción incrementan la opinión inflada de uno mismo. Antes del honor viene la humildad y después de la altanería, el fracaso…

No estoy diciendo que no podemos recibir buen consejo de gente completamente desconocida, atravez de leer libros, y documentos en el internet, etc., solo que la profundidad del significado, el balance y la corrección personal que todos necesitamos viene atravez de relaciones de largo tiempo. A través de ellas aprendemos como vivir y no solo repitir las verdades que hemos memorizado. Francamente sin mis mentores, aquellos que se han quedado conmigo, que han caminado conmigo y han sido muy pacientes conmigo, los que me han reprochado, que me han escuchado y que han llorado conmigo y me han amado aunque no perfectamente y no solo a mi sino a mi familia…ELLOS son (humanamente hablando) a quienes debo mi vida. La marca de los que me han discipulado atravez de los años y siguen haciéndolo por sus palabras y sus ejemplos, los que han enfocado la palabra de Dios en mi vida personal para que yo la aplicara. No solo es la información, sino la aplicación que he visto en sus vidas que me inspira y me mueva mas allá de mi pereza espiritual, carnalidad y mi superioridad pretenciosa.
La aplicación de la verdad en el amor es preñada con alto riesgo, encajada de equivocaciones humanas y en verdad es dolorosa. La verdad no solo duele cuando la aplicamos a ellos, sino a nosotros mismos.

En el mundo occidental, la época de la autonomía ha sido discutido y por supuesto la idea de rendir cuentas a otro está siendo discutido mas y mas. La idea de la comunidad está conectada con todo eso también. Hablando por mi experiencia personal, no puedes recibir el amor, la verdad o la estabilidad si no haces un vínculo entre tu y las personas que lo practiquen en tu presencia. Por la gracia de Dios y por su voluntad y por el compromiso tan paciente de aquellas personas y el mío también. He sido tan bendecido por estos amigos. Que escoges y trabajes duro en cultivar y mantener amistades así.

¿Quiénes son tus amigos mas cercanos? ¿Quiénes son los que te aconsejan? Son la mejor forma de mostrar quien eres y quien llegarás a ser.

The longer I live the more I'm convinced that you can indeed tell a great deal about a person by the attitude, character and wisdom exhibited by that person's closest friends and advisors.
Proverbs says we become wise by walking with people of wisdom -and that a companion of fools comes to ruin.

Good counsel, truly candid and wise advice isn't always that easy to get. For a Christian, experienced, godly people who know how to apply the Word of God to everyday choices and circumstances- both within and beyond one's control- and a continuing dialogue with such people of depth comes only through commitment to one another in relationship. Better still, long term relationship. Such interaction takes time and effort. It also takes a willingness to risk a "wounded" ego, personal agendas and selfish ambition, all which unchecked, rachet up one's inflated opinion of one's self. Before honor comes humility, and a haughty spirit before a fall...

I am not saying we can't get wise counsel from complete strangers, via reading books and online documents, etc., just that the depth of meaning, balance and personal correction ALL of us need comes from long term relationships out of which we learn how to live, not only parrot truths we've memorized. Frankly, without -my- mentors, those who have stuck by me, patiently walked with me, rebuked me, listened to and cried with me, consistently albeit not perfectly loved me and my family... THESE are the one's (humanly speaking) I owe my life to. The mark of these who have discipled and all these years later still disciple me by their words and example have brought the Word of God into clear focus for me to apply. It's not just the information but the application I've seen in their lives that inspires me and moves me beyond my own spiritual laziness, baseness and self-righteousness.

The application of truth in love is often fraught with risk, laced with human mistakes and in fact, hurts. Truth not only hurts others as we apply it to them, but to ourselves.
In the western world, the age of autonomy has been discussed and of course, the term "accountability" is being tossed about more and more. "Community" is a word linked with these. But speaking from personal experience, you cannot gain love, truth or stability unless you link yourself and your decisions with people who live it out before you. By God's grace and will, by their patient commitment to me and mine to them, I have been SO blessed by such friends. May you choose and do the hard work to cultivate as well as keep such friends.

Who are your closest friends and advisors? They are a rather good measure of who you are and who you will become.

Fuimos a San José ayer en la tarde. Invitamos a la gente a un show de payasos, títeres, música y enseñaza bíblica. Llegó un buen grupo de adultos. Llegaron casí cien niños también. Cada niño recibió un globo formado como animál o sombrero y un juguete. Regalamos nuevos testamentos a los adultos que no tenían Biblias también. Aquí encuentran unas fotos del evento.

We went to San José yesterday afternoon. We invited the people to a show with clowns, puppets, music and a Bible study. A good group of adults showed up and about 100 children too. Each child received a balloon in the shape of an animal or a hat and a toy. We gave out new testaments to the adults that didn't have Bibles too. Here are some photos of the event. The first photo shows Pastor Brian preaching the word of God.

San José Mañana San José tomorrow

No se olviden… mañana vamos a San José, frente a Santa Rosa de Villa. Vamos a hacer un alcance a la gente y predicar la palabra. Van con nosotros los de Calvary Chapel Downey. Van a ser títeres, estarán yendo las payasas, etc. Si quieren participar tienen que estar en la iglesia de Surco a la 1:30 p.m. en punto. Queremos comenzar un poco más temprano esta vez porque los niños están de vacaciones. Cuando comenzamos tarde se oscurece muy rápido y los niños están con frío. Si no pueden acompañarnos pueden orar.

Don’t forget… we’ll be going to San Jose tomorrow; it’s across from Santa Rosa de Villa. We’ll be doing an outreach there and preaching the word of God. The group from Calvary Chapel Downey will be going with us. They’ll be doing a puppet show. The clowns will be going along too. If you want to participate you have to meet us at the church at 1:30 p.m. sharp. We want to start a little earlier this time because the children are on vacation. When we start late it gets dark quickly and the children get cold. If you can’t go along, you can pray for us.

Hunger El Hambre

The last few weeks my youngest daughter, Priscilla has been sick and hasn’t wanted to eat much. She has lost a lot of weight. We were so happy to see that her appetite returned yesterday. Now she’s eating really well. I know that our Heavenly Father is happy when He sees His children eating from the word of God too. Have you eaten today?

Las últimas semanas mi hija menor, Priscilla estaba enferma y no tenía apetito. Ha bajado de peso bastante. Nos pusimos contentos a ver que regresó el apetito ayer. Ahora está comiendo muy bien. Oraciones Contestadas Answered Prayer

Gracias a una ofrenda los chicos están pintando la fachada del edificio en estos días. Pondré unas fotos en el blog cuando todo este mas bonito. Por mientras estoy contento por la fidelidad de Dios. Ha sido tan fiel en cuanto a las necesidades del edificio. Hablo del mantenimiento, la necesidad de mejorar unas cosas, todos los gastos, etc.

Después de orar mucho por los adolescentes de Puente Piedra, parece que el grupo está creciendo en números. El número de personas nos es importante pero nos alegra saber que los chicos están escuchando la palabra de Dios. Ahora tenemos que seguir orando por lo más importante, queremos que realmente conozcan al Señor.

Pastor Jaime me llamó por teléfono esta mañana para decirme que los adolescentes de San Vicente estarán yendo a Playa Hermosa mañana en la mañana. Van a hacer algo especial en la playa. ¡Que bueno! Sé que para algunos es tal vez un poco aburrido escuchar que tenemos que orar por los adolescentes pero es cierto. Viven con mucha presión y los que están con nosotros no han crecido en familias cristianas.

Thanks to an offering that we received the guys are painting the outside of the building these days. I’ll put some pictures on the blog when it gets a little nicer looking. In the mean time I’m just happy for what the Lord is doing in our midst. It’s been great to see His faithfulness regarding the building costs and all of the needs for upgrades and maintenance.

After much prayer for the teenagers of Puente Piedra, it seems that the group is growing in numbers. The number of people isn’t so important but it does make us happy to know that the kids are hearing the word of God. Now we have to keep praying for the most important thing. We want the kids to really know the Lord.

Pastor Jaime called me this morning. He told me that the teenagers of San Vicente are going to Playa Hermosa tomorrow morning. They’re going to do something special at the beach. That’s great. I know that for some people it’s probably a little boring when I keep asking for prayer for the teenagers but it’s really true. They live with so much pressure and the ones that are with us here haven’t been raised in Christian homes.

Gracias a los que oraron por nuestro tiempo en Puente Piedra ayer. Fuimos a evangelizar en un barrio que está en un cerro cerca de San José. Predicamos la palabra a algunos e invitamos a la gente a un alcance para los niños que vamos a hacer el viernes en la tarde. Algunas personas ya han participado en los alcances anteriores en San José. Conocí unas señoras que fueron a ver la película de Jesús. Ahora queremos que vayan de nuevo el viernes. Tenemos planeado hacer música, títeres, regalar globos, payasas y no sé que más. Oren por el día viernes en San José.
Esta tarde estaremos predicando la palabra en Villa Maria. Estamos orando por las personas allí también.

Thanks to those of you that prayed for our time in Puente Piedra yesterday. We went to evangelize in a neighborhood that’s on a hill near San José. We preached the word to some people and we invited everyone to an outreach that we have planned on Friday in San José. Some of the people have already participated in the outreaches that we’ve done in the past. A few ladies that I met went to see the movie of Jesus. Now we want them to go again on Friday. There will be music, a puppet show, balloons, clowns and I don’t know what else. Pray for Friday in San José.
This afternoon we’ll be going to preach the word in Villa Maria. We’re praying for the people there too.

Esta Tarde This afternoon

Esta tarde estaremos ministrando en Puente Piedra con el grupo de Calvary Chapel Downey. La idea es alcanzar a gente nueva con el evangelio y tal vez ministrar a los cristianos nuevos en la zona. Oren por nosotros.

This afternoon we're going to be ministering in Puente Piedra with the group from Calvary Chapel Downey. The idea is to reach out to new people and maybe minister to some of the new christians in the area as well. Pray for us.

El jueves Thursday

No se olviden que el jueves estaremos hablando de la guerra en Israel y lo que la Biblia dice en cuanto a este asunto. Será muy interesante. Luego tendremos en tiempo para poder compartir con el grupo de Calvary Chapel Downey. Todo comienza a las 7:45 de la noche.

Grupos/Oportunidades Groups/Opportunitie

Fuimos al aeropuerto anoche porque llegó el grupo de Calvary Chapel Downey. Llegamos a la iglesia a las 2:30 a.m. e hicieron su devocional a las 7:30 a.m. Después de tomar desayuno fueron a Cañete. Estarán ministrando en Playa Hermosa en la tarde. En la noche van a estar bien cansados todos. Por lo menos no han estado aburridos todavía. Estamos esperando con ganas para ver lo que Dios hará con el grupo.

El grupo de Calvary Chapel Riverside llega el 19 de Agosto. Estará con nosotros hasta el 27 del mismo mes. No es muy tarde si hay otros grupos que quieren venir este año. Por su puesto sería bonito recibir unos grupos en Enero, Febrero o Marzo cuando vienen pocos visitantes. Sería bonito recibir grupos para hacer Escuela Bíblica de Verano, Un campamento o retiro para los adolescentes, construcción u otras cosas. Si hay unos chicos que podrían venir para correr tabla un par de semanas o un mes como ministerio sería mostro también. Anímense a venir a visitarnos, compartir con nosotros y ministrar juntos.

We went to the airport last night because the group from Calvary Chapel Downey arrived. We got to the church at about 2:30 a.m. and the team did their devotional at 7:30 a.m. After eating breakfast they left for Cañete where they will be ministering this afternoon. This evening they’ll be really tired. At least they haven’t been bored yet. We’re anxious to see what God will do with this group.

The group from Calvary Chapel Riverside will arrive on the 19th of August. They’ll be with us until the 27th. It’s not too late if there are other groups that would like to come this year. We would love to have some groups come in January, February or March too. That’s the time of year that very few people come for a visit. It would be great to have groups come to do Vacation Bible School, a camp or retreat for teenagers, construction or other things. If there are some guys (or girls) that would like to come and surf or body board as a ministry for a few weeks or a few months that would be awesome too. Come and visit us!
