La religión de hoy día no está transformando a la gente; es lo contrario, está siendo transformada por la gente. No está levantando el nivel moral de la sociedad; está descendiendo al nivel de la sociedad y felicitándose a si misma que ha ganado una victoria porque la sociedad sonríe aceptando el hecho de que la iglesia se ha rendido.

The New Wave in Ministry La Nueva Ola en el Ministerio
I’ve been mentioning the fact that we would love to have missions teams from the U.S. come down to minister with us. I know that the cost of airline tickets prohibits some people from making the trip but we have found a solution. It takes a little longer to get here but the teams could minister along the way in every town on their way to Lima. Here is a picture of the new wave in Christian ministry. It is especially popular among mature Christians as you can see. The best part of it all is that it’s biblical because you will remember that Jesus sent them out two by two.He mencionando que nos encantaría trabajar con equipos misioneros de los Estados Unidos. En el caso de algunos el precio de viajar en avión les prohíbe hacer el viaje pero hemos encontrado una solución. Demora un poco más en llegar pero los grupos pueden ministrar en cada pueblo en camino a Lima. He puesto aquí una foto de la nueva ola en el ministerio cristiano. A los cristianos “maduros” les gusta mucho el concepto de ministrar así. La mejor parte de todo eso es que es bíblico porque Jesús les mandó de 2 en 2.

Fuimos a firmar la minuta para ya comenzar con el papeleo necesario para realizar la compra del edificio. Gracias Señor. !Estoy nervioso y emocianodo a la vez! Intentaré poner unas fotos del local en el blog en los próximos días.

Jack Wilburn
I got a message from Jack Wilburn yesterday. They’re raising support to move here to Lima with the family as missionaries. Their desire is to work with us here at Koinonia. Pray for them today. Raising support is one of the most difficult things a missionary has to do. Pray that God will permit them to come soon because we could really use their help.

Psalm 55 Salmo 55
Last week I wrote a short e-mail to a pastor that is a friend of mine. I haven’t seen him since June when we were at a pastor’s conference together. I wanted to know how he was doing. He wrote back saying that he was struggling with God because the church in the U.S is such a mess. I could really relate to what he said. The only difference is that I’m in Peru. The last few days my heart has been grieved as I have thought and prayed about what is going on in our world and in our churches. So many “Christians” are deciding to be so “relevant” that they have forgotten about the word of God and its application to our every day life. So many churches have decided to mix worldly philosophies in with their Christianity. Reading Psalm 55 this morning I really relate to what David said. I applied it to those within the church that are deceiving the people and being deceived themselves. Thank God that we can call on His name and that He continues to be our God.
Psalm 55:1-23
1 Give ear to my prayer, O God,
And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.
2 Attend to me, and hear me;
I am restless in my complaint, and moan noisily,
3 Because of the voice of the enemy,
Because of the oppression of the wicked;
For they bring down trouble upon me,
And in wrath they hate me.
4 My heart is severely pained within me,
And the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me,
And horror has overwhelmed me.
6 So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!

La semana pasada escribí un breve e-mail a un amigo que es pastor. No lo he visto desde que estábamos juntos en una conferencia de pastores in junio. Yo quería saber como estaba. Me escribió diciendo que estaba luchando con Dios porque la iglesia en los Estados Unidos está mal. Lo que me dijo realmente me tocó. La única diferencia entre él y yo es que yo estoy en El Perú. Los últimos días he estado muy triste mientras que pensaba en la iglesia en general y oraba por ella. Muchos “cristianos” han decidido hacer la iglesia tan “pertinente” que se han olvidado de la palabra de Dios y su aplicación a la vida cotidiana. Tantas iglesias han decidido mezclar las filosofías del mundo con el cristianismo. Leyendo Salmo 55 esta mañana realmente pude relacionar lo que dijo David a la situación de la iglesia hoy en día. La aplicación para mí acerca de este Salmo esta mañana tenía que ver con aquellos dentro de la iglesia que están engañando a la gente y que han sido engañados ellos mismos. Gracias a Dios podemos clamar a Su nombre todavía y que sigue siendo nuestro Dios.

The Seal El Sello
Ephesians 1:13-14
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

We had hoped to sign the contract to purchase the new building here in Surco this Friday. Now they’re telling me that it will be next week .I have a visa here in Peru called a carnet. The bank doesn’t understand the immigration process. There is no convincing them that I’m here legally. They think that my carnet (visa) has expired even though it’s still valid until April of 2007. The reason for this is that the carnet says that it’s valid until 2004 but on the back they put a seal for each additional year. I have three seals. That means that my carnet is valid until 2007. The seal guarantees my right to be here in Peru, do business, etc. The lawyer will be going to immigration tomorrow to solicit a letter asking the government to state that I am really here legally. Keep praying while we are in this process. I really need prayer because sometimes I lose my patience with the red tape. I guess God isn’t finished working on me yet. Thank God that in Christ we have the seal of the Holy Spirit. God the Father will never be confused by the seal that we have on us. He’s the one that put it there.

En él también vosotros, habiendo oído la palabra de verdad, el evangelio de vuestra salvación, y habiendo creído en él, fuisteis sellados con el Espíritu Santo de la promesa, que es las arras de nuestra herencia hasta la redención de la posesión adquirida, para alabanza de su gloria.
Esperamos firmar el contrato de compra venta del edificio nuevo aquí en Surco este viernes. Ahora me dicen que será la semana que viene. Tengo una visa aquí en El Perú que se llama el carnet. El banco no entiende el proceso que hacen los de inmigraciones. No hay forma de convencerles del banco que estoy aquí legalmente. Piensan que mi carnet está vencido pero tiene validez hasta Abril de 2007. La razón por lo cual es que mi carnet dice que es válido hasta 2004 en la parte delantera. En la parte atrás hay 3 sellos, Cada sello me da un año adicional. Entonces estoy bien hasta 2007. El sello garantiza mi derecho de estar aquí en el Perú realizando negocios, etc. El abogado irá a inmigraciones mañana para solicitar una carta explicando que estoy aquí legalmente. Que sigan orando por el proceso. Yo también necesito oración porque a veces pierdo los papeles con todo el papeleo. Parece que Dios no ha terminado trabajando en mí todavía. Gracias a Dios que en Cristo tenemos el sello del Espíritu Santo. Dios el Padre nunca estará confundido acerca del sello que tenemos en nosotros. El es él que lo puso.

Noticias del Fin de Semana Weekend News Update
Hemos pasado un fin de semana espectacular. Comenzamos el día sábado con la escuela de discípulado. Pastor Jaime terminó de enseñar las epístolas pastorales. Fuimos a Villa Maria en la noche. Realmente es lindo ver como el Señor nos da la oportunidad de predicar la palabra. Siempre hay una mezcla de personas. Hay los que no conocen a Cristo, la personas que ya van constantemente, unas personas de otras iglesias y otras que han conocido a Cristo pero están alejados de él. Muchos estaban escuchando la palabra muy atentamente anoche. Gracias por sus oraciones. Varias personas entregaron sus vidas a Cristo anoche.
Esta mañana Roger Oakland predicó en la iglesia en Surco. Habló del tema, “Porque Creemos en la Biblia”. Bien hecho Roger. Gracias por visitarnos y gracias a John Bonner por organizarlo. Gracias al instituto bíblico Calvary Chapel por invitarle a Roger al Perú.
Se Bautizaron 6 personas hoy día después del culto. Gracias Señor por los que te han conocido. Cada uno es precioso para ti y para nosotros también.
We’ve had a spectacular weekend. We started Saturday morning with the discipleship school. Pastor Jaime finished teaching the Pastoral Epistles. At night we went to Villa Maria. It’s really great to see how the Lord gives us the opportunity to preach His word. There is always a mixture of people there. There are people that don’t know the Lord, people that are going to the studies every week, people from other churches and others that have known the Lord but are far away from Him. There were a lot of people last night that were listening very carefully what was being shared. Thanks for your prayers. A number of people gave their lives to the Lord last night.
Roger Oakland preached in our church in Surco this morning. His subject was, “Why I Believe in the Bible.” Good job Roger. Thanks for visiting us. Thanks to John Bonner for arranging it all and thanks to the Calvary Chapel Bible College here in Lima for inviting him.

Esta mañana Roger Oakland predicó en la iglesia en Surco. Habló del tema, “Porque Creemos en la Biblia”. Bien hecho Roger. Gracias por visitarnos y gracias a John Bonner por organizarlo. Gracias al instituto bíblico Calvary Chapel por invitarle a Roger al Perú.
Se Bautizaron 6 personas hoy día después del culto. Gracias Señor por los que te han conocido. Cada uno es precioso para ti y para nosotros también.
We’ve had a spectacular weekend. We started Saturday morning with the discipleship school. Pastor Jaime finished teaching the Pastoral Epistles. At night we went to Villa Maria. It’s really great to see how the Lord gives us the opportunity to preach His word. There is always a mixture of people there. There are people that don’t know the Lord, people that are going to the studies every week, people from other churches and others that have known the Lord but are far away from Him. There were a lot of people last night that were listening very carefully what was being shared. Thanks for your prayers. A number of people gave their lives to the Lord last night.
Roger Oakland preached in our church in Surco this morning. His subject was, “Why I Believe in the Bible.” Good job Roger. Thanks for visiting us. Thanks to John Bonner for arranging it all and thanks to the Calvary Chapel Bible College here in Lima for inviting him.

La Caperucita Roja Little Red Riding Hood
2 Corintios 11:3Pero temo que como la serpiente con su astucia engañó a Eva,(A) vuestros sentidos sean de alguna manera extraviados de la sincera fidelidad a Cristo.
Hechos 20:29-30
29 Porque yo sé que después de mi partida entrarán en medio de vosotros lobos rapaces, que no perdonarán al rebaño.
30 Y de vosotros mismos se levantarán hombres que hablen cosas perversas para arrastrar tras sí a los discípulos.
Eva fue engañada por la serpiente porque quería ser más “espiritual”. He visto tantos cristianos engañados tantas veces en esta manera. Por ese deseo de demostrar ser tan espirituales, y estar al día con todos los cristianos “espirituales.” Se olviden de la sencillez y la fidelidad de Cristo.
Primero vamos a hablar de ti. Lo has escuchado antes, pero sigue siendo la verdad. Jesús te ama tal como eres. Si hay que hacer un cambio en tu vida, él lo hará en su tiempo. No tienes porque preocuparte. No tienes que mostrar a todo el mundo que eres muy “espiritual”. Puedes dejar al Señor ser Señor de tu vida y nada más.
Ahora hablamos de los demás. Ten cuidado de los que siempre quieren aparecer mas espirituales que los otros cristianos. Una manera de saber si alguien es un lobo o una oveja es recordar lo siguiente. Un lobo es siempre más grande que una oveja. Tienes que tener cuidado de los que siempre quieren ser mas grandes que tu, espiritualmente hablando. La Caperucita Roja lo vio, dijo, “Abuelita, qué boca tan grande tienes.” “Es para comerte mejor” contestó el lobo. Si hay una oveja en la iglesia que siempre parece ser más grande y mejor tal vez no es oveja, sino lobo.
Otra cosa que vemos acerca de los lobos es que siempre quieren arrastrar tras si a los discípulos. No solo quieren causar división, sino también son muy egoístas en la forma de hacerlo. No están satisfechos servir en una posición solidaria. Siempre quieren ser el líder en una manera u otra.
Lo que quiero decir con todo eso es que estamos viviendo en tiempos peligrosos. Hay muchos que están siendo engañados por las artimañas de Satanás. No te olvides del evangelio sencillo y la gracia de Dios que predicamos. Así nos salvamos.
2 Corinthians 11:3
3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.[1]

29 “For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.30 “Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.[2]
Eve was deceived by the serpent because she wanted to be more “spiritual”. I’ve seen so many Christians deceived so many times in this area. In their desire to show how spiritual they are and keep up with all of the other “spiritual” people they forget the simplicity that is in Christ.
First let’s talk about you. You’ve heard it before, but it’s still true. Jesus loves you just the way you are. He will make any changes necessary in His time. You don’t need to get all freaked out and nervous trying to be spiritual. Just let the Lord do His work in His time.
Now let’s talk about others. Beware of those that always want to appear more spiritual than everyone else. Here is a way to know if someone is a wolf or a sheep, a wolf is always bigger than a sheep. You’ll find that the people that you need to beware of are the ones that always want to be “bigger” than you spiritually speaking. Little Red Riding Hood saw it… she said, “Grandma what big teeth you have.” The wolf responded, “the better to eat you with my dear.” If the “sheep” in your church always seems to be bigger and better there’s a good chance he’s not really a sheep at all.
One other thing that we see about wolves is that they always want to draw away the disciples after themselves. In other words, they cause division and not only do they cause division but they do it in a very selfish way. We see again that they are not satisfied to serve in a supportive role. They always want to be the leader.
I guess what I want to say with all of this is that we are living in dangerous times. Many are being deceived by the enemies’ tactics. Don’t forget about the simple gospel of grace that we preach and by which we have been saved.

Pedicure en El Perú Pedicure in Peru

No teníamos mucho tiempo de casados todavía cuando me esposa decidió decirme la verdad. Que tengo unos pies feos. Yo lo sospechaba por mucho tiempo pero su confirmación me aseguró que estaríamos tomando la decisión correcta en mudarnos al Perú como misioneros. El Perú es un buen lugar para adquirir un pedicure, hablo de un pedicure espiritual. Si no entiendes de lo que estoy hablando sigue leyendo.
Hay oposición pero mas puertas se estan abriendo para nosotros cada vez. La semana pasada un representante de Cesar Vallejo, un barrio de Villa Maria. Nos preguntó si podríamos ir y hacer mimos, música y ministerio en un parque en su zona. Inclusive nos ofrecieron movilidad. No le llamamos nosotros, sino él nos localizó. Desafortunadamente no hubo tiempo para organizarnos bien para aprovechar de la oportunidad. Sabemos que en el futuro podremos hacer algo allí. Esta tarde llamaron de Surco otra vez. Es otra puerta abierta para poder servir o ministrar. He hablado do solo dos de las puertas que están abiertas para nosotros y son puertas que han sido abiertas por el mismo gobierno (hablando humanamente).
Hay gente que quiere que empecemos iglesias en Puno, El Cusco, e Ica en este momento. También nos han pedido empezar estudios bíblicos en Carhuaz y Chincha. Estamos confiando en el Señor sabiendo que todo será en el tiempo de él. A la vez sabemos que las palabras del apóstol Pablo son verdad hoy como en el tiempo que las escribió. Dijo Pablo, “porque todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor será salvo”. Ahora bien, ¿cómo invocarán a aquel en quien no han creído? ¿y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿y como oirán si no hay quien les predique? ¿y quién predicará sin ser enviado? Así está escrito: ¡Que hermoso es recibir al mensajero que trae buenas nuevas!” Romanos 10:13-15 Este último versículo dice, Que hermoso los pies de los que traen buenas nuevas en Ingles. ¿Has considerado dejar a Jesús darte un pedicure hoy día? El ha tomado mis feos pies y ha hecho unos pies hermosos aquí en El Perú. ¿Cómo lucen tus pies?
We hadn’t been married for long when my wife decided to tell me the truth. I have ugly feet. I had suspected it for a long time but her confirmation assured me that we would be making the right decision in moving to Peru as missionaries.
Peru is a great place to get a pedicure, a spiritual pedicure that is. If you don’t get what I’m talking about, read on.
There is opposition but more doors are opening to us all the time. Last week a representative from the Cesar Vallejo section on Villa Maria called. He asked if we could go and do our mimes, music and ministry at a park in his section of town. We didn’t call him or ask him, he asked us. He even offered to give us transportation there. Unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to organize ourselves well for the event but we know that we will be able to do something there in the future. This afternoon they called us again from Surco, another open door to serve. These are two doors open to us and they have been opened to us by the government (humanly speaking).
There are people asking us to start churches in Puno, Cusco, and Ica at the present time. We have also been asked to go and conduct Bible studies in Carhuaz and Chincha. We’re trusting the Lord to work it all out in His time but we also know that Paul’s words are as true today as they were when he wrote them in the first century, “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:13-15. Have you considered letting Jesus give you a pedicure today? He has taken my ugly feet and made them beautiful here in Peru. How are your feet looking?

Me Conocen They Know Me
Acts 17:11
These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.[1]
Acts 4:13
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.[2]
There we were stopped in traffic on Benavides Avenue. I was in the back seat of a taxi when I noticed the security guard looking at me from inside the gate of a building. We smiled and pointed at me. He knew who I was. I was sure he was going to ask for my autograph at any moment. It has happened to me a lot over the last few years. Years ago it was the girl on the bus that slipped me her card and phone number with a short note telling me how much she loved me. A few months ago it was the combi driver (a combi is a small van used for public transportation) that kept turning around to look at me. I was sure we were going to get in an accident. It has happened so many times that I can’t even remember them all. It’s not because of our great nation wide ministry that people stare. It’s because they think I’m someone else. People are sure that I’m either Steve Austin the wrestler or Carlos Bruce the Peruvian politician. For the people that know me it’s so easy to see that I’m neither one. I’m Brian. I may weigh the same as Steve Austin but my weight is in different places. It’s hard to believe that anyone would confuse me for Steve Austin but the people do!
How many people make the same mistake about Jesus Christ? They know just enough about Him to make the popular mistake. They think that Jesus is someone that He’s really not. I encourage you to really study the Bible and check out the real Jesus. He’s pretty awesome. If you mistake me for someone else, it’s no big deal but if you mess it up when it comes to Jesus Christ you have a lot to lose. If you really get to know the Jesus of the Bible you won’t be fooled by those that just sort of look like Him.

Allí estábamos, parados en el tráfico en la avenida Benavides. Yo estaba sentado atrás en el taxi cuando vi el hombre trabajando como guardia de seguridad en la puerta de un edificio. Me miraba con una sonrisa y estaba señalando hacia mí. El sabía quien era yo. Yo estaba seguro que me iba a pedir mi autógrafo en cualquier momento. Me ha pasado un montón de veces en los últimos años. Hace años una niña me dio su tarjeta con su teléfono. Me escribió una notita diciendo que me amaba. Hace unos meses atrás el chofer de la combi (una camioneta usada por transporte público) en que yo estaba volteaba a cada rato. Estaba recontra interesado en mí. Yo estaba seguro que íbamos a chocar. Me ha pasado tantas veces que ya no me acuerdo. La gente no me mira porque tengo un gran ministerio nacional. Es porque la gente piensa que yo soy otra persona. La gente está segura que yo soy Steve Austin de la lucha libre o Carlos Bruce el político peruano. Para la gente que me conoce es fácil ver que no soy ni Steve Austin ni Carlos Bruce. Soy Brian. Tal vez peso igual que Steve Austin pero el peso mío está en otra parte de mi cuerpo. Me es difícil creer que la gente haya pensado que soy Carlos Bruce pero así es.
¿Cuántas personas se equivocan en la misma manera en cuanto a Jesucristo? Tienen el conocimiento suficiente para cometer el error popular. Piensan que Jesús es alguien que realmente no es. Quiero animarte a estudiar la Biblia para poder encontrar al Jesús verdadero. El Jesús de la Biblia es impresionante. Si me confundes por otra persona no es una gran cosa. Equivocarse en cuanto a Jesucristo es un error que te hace perder mucho. Si llegas a conocer a Jesús atravez de la Biblia no te podrán engañar con alguien que simplemente “se parece” a él no más.

Estábamos en camino a Puente Piedra ayer. Yo estaba recordando varias cosas que me han pasado en los últimos 29 años de ser cristiano. Gracias Señor por tu fidelidad y gracias por mantenerme enamorado de ti. Podría comer de tu fidelidad por siempre. Gracias por permitirme ministrar con la gente que siempre va a Puente Piedra de Surco. Gracias por permitirme ministrar a la gente de Puente Piedra también. Pasamos un tiempo tan lindo enseñando la palabra, dedicando una bebé al Señor y simplemente experimentando Koinonia en camino. Si no has salido de tu mundo cotidiano a ministrar a otros inténtalo. Mejor todavía con un grupo de cristianos. Vas a experimentar lo lindo que es servir al Señor.

We were on our way to Puente Piedra yesterday. I was remembering some things the have happened to me in the last 29 years of being a Christian. Thanks Lord for your faithfulness y thanks for keeping me in love with you. I could feed on your faithfulness forever. Thanks for letting me minister with the people that always go to Puente Piedra from Surco. Thanks for letting me minister to the people of Puente Piedra too. We had such a nice time teaching the word, dedicating a little baby girl to the Lord and just experiencing Koinonia on the way. If you haven’t gone out from your daily world a minister to others try it. Even better yet, do it with a group of Christians. You’ll experience the beauty of serving the Lord.

El Devocional de Marta Martha's Devotional
Martha shared the devotion in our discipleship class this morning. She shared Psalm 23 with us. Psalm 23 is Martha’s favorite Psalm and it was the Psalm that she always shared with her mother. She told us how her mother gave her life to the Lord when Margot (a woman from our church) went to share the gospel with her. Martha’s mother began to grow in the Lord reading a Bible that we gave her. She passed away knowing the Lord. I want to say thanks to those of you that pray for us and that have brought down Bibles and tracks for us to distribute. God is using your offerings of love here in Peru.Marta compartió el devocional con nosotros esta mañana en la escuela de discipulado. Nos compartió Salmo 23. Salmo 23 es su Salmo favorito y fue el favorito de su mamá también. Marta siempre compartía este Salmo con su mamá. Nos dijo que su mamá entregó su vida a Cristo cuando Margot (una mujer de nuestra iglesia) fue y compartió el evangelio con ella. La mamá de Marta comenzó a crecer en la fe leyendo la Biblia que nuestra iglesia le obsequió. Falleció conociendo a Cristo. Quiere darles las gracias a las personas que siempre oran por nosotros. También les doy las gracias a las personas que nos han regalado Biblias y folletos para distribuir. Dios está usando sus ofrendas de amor aquí en El Peru.

Playa Hermosa
News from Playa Hermosa.
David returned from Cañete today where he has been ministering with Pastor Jaime for the last few days. He was ministering in Playa Hermosa where the neighborhood school allows us to use the building for our Bible clubs. David told me that the school director is being pressured by the Catholics to not let us use the school anymore. The Catholics weren’t doing any type of work in Playa Hermosa until they found out that we are going there. Now they have started to tell the parents that they shouldn’t let their children go to our meetings because Playa Hermosa is a catholic town. They are telling the parents that we teach strange things to the children. We have been through this before everywhere we have started Bible clubs. All of the people that minister to children in Peru have told me the same story as well. We are not angry with the catholic people. We love everyone. We continue to pray for the Catholics and we pray that they will allow us the liberty to teach the children about the love of our savior Jesus Christ. We know that God will glorified through this.
Pray for a continued open door at the school.
Pray that the director of the school will not bow to the pressure of the catholic people.
Pray for the parents that God will use this to glorify His name in their lives.
Pray for wisdom and love for our workers in Playa Hermosa. They are Pastor Jaime, David, Marissa and Kristel.

Ahora están hablando con los padres de los niños diciendo que Playa Hermosa es un pueblo católico. Dicen que los padres no deben dejar a sus niños ir a los estudios bíblicos que hacemos porque enseñamos cosas raras. Hemos pasado por eso antes cada vez que comenzamos el club de niños. Todos los que ministran a niños en El Perú me han contado lo mismo. No estamos enojados con los católicos. Amamos a todos. Continuamos orando por los católicos y oramos para que puedan dejarnos la libertad de enseñar a los niños acerca del amor de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Sabemos que Dios será glorificado atravéz de toda esta situación

Luke 21:1-4
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.3 So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all;4 “for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”

We’re living in the day of the big ministry. Mega churches are growing in size and the number of mega churches is growing rapidly. I thank God for what He’s doing in the big churches. They can certainly do things that the small church can’t do. At the same time I’m grateful that the Lord looks on my small sacrifice as valuable too. It may seem like you don’t have a lot to offer to God today but He sees what you offer as valuable. He’s an expert at taking a little and doing a lot with it too. After all He did multiply the fish and bread that the little boy offered. Moses’ rod became the rod of God when he offered what he had in his hand to the Lord. Offer the Lord what you have today. What’s more important than the quantity of what you offer is whether or not you have offered God everything you have.

1 Levantando los ojos, vio a los ricos que echaban sus ofrendas en el arca de las ofrendas. Vio también a una viuda muy pobre, que echaba allí dos blancas. Y dijo: En verdad os digo, que esta viuda pobre echó más que todos. Estamos viviendo en el tiempo de los ministerios grandes. Las mega iglesias (iglesias grandes con 2000 personas o más) están creciendo mas grande cada día y el número de iglesias grandes va aumentando diariamente también. Le doy gracias a Dios por lo que él está haciendo en las iglesias grandes. Ciertamente pueden hacer muchas cosas que la iglesia pequeña no puede hacer. A la vez estoy agradecido que el Señor mira el sacrificio pequeño como algo de valor también. Tal vez parece que no tienes mucho que ofrecer a Dios hoy pero él ve lo que le ofreces como algo valoroso. El es experto en tomar lo poco que le ofrecemos y hacer mucho con él. Es más, Jesús multiplicó los pocos pescaditos y pancitos que le ofreció el niño. Vemos en el antiguo testamento que la vara de Moisés se convirtió en la vara de Dios cuando Moisés le ofreció a Dios lo que tenía en la mano. Ofrezcas al Señor lo que tienes hoy. Lo que es más importante no es la cantidad de lo que tienes sino, si estas dispuesto a ofrecerle todo lo que tienes.

Puente Piedra
We had a nice time in Puente Piedra today. It’s nice to see that the people are more and more willing to help. When we got to the building the doors were already open because Elvira was there. She had everything clean and in order for the Bible study. Elvira was one of the first ladies we met when we went to Puente Piedra the first time. It’s nice to see her eagerness to be involved. She was mentioning that they would like to do an activity to help raise money for the construction of the building because it will start getting cold in a few months and the teenagers are meeting outside because there is no room for them in the building we are using at the present time. Praise the Lord for her encouragement. One other nice thing was to see the way that one of the boys Stephen is really learning to play the guitar. He’s learning quicker than the ladies and so he’s not in Marissa’s class anymore. Sally is teaching him instead. Thanks Sally.

Pasamos un tiempo bonito en Puente Piedra hoy. Es lindo ver como la gente está cada vez mas dispuesta a ayudar. Cuando llegamos al local las puertas ya estaban abiertas porque Elvira ya había llegado. Ella se había encargado de limpiar y alistar el local para el estudio bíblico. Elvira fue una de las primeras señoras que conocimos por primera vez en Puente Piedra. Me animó mucho ver esa voluntad de involucrarse. Ella mencionaba que les gustaría hacer una actividad para juntar dinero para seguir con la construcción del edificio porque pronto empecerá en invierno. Será difícil para los adolescentes que se reúnen afuera a estudiar la Biblia porque no hay espacio para ellos en el local que prestamos en este momento. Gracias a Dios por Elvira porque me animó mucho. Otra de las cosas lindas es ver a un niño que se llama Stephen aprender a tocar guitarra. El empeño que le esta poniendo para aprender también me anima. El está aprendiendo mas rápido que las mujeres por eso es que tuvieron que cambiar de profesora, ya no estudia con Marissa. Sally es la que le enseña ahora. Gracias Sally.

Mateo 17 Matthew 17
Matthew 17 tells the story of the transfiguration. There are a lot of lessons to be learned regarding what happened when Jesus was seen in His glory there as he spoke with Moses and Elijah but today I want to write about what was happening down in the world while Jesus was up high. A man had brought his son to the disciples. He was looking for help because his son was demon possessed. I’m a father of three and I can’t imagine the desperation that this man must have felt. To add to his misery, the disciples weren’t able to help. They had cast out demons before but this one was too tough for them. I’m not sure what the other disciples were thinking when Jesus took Peter, James and John up the mountain with Him. I do know human nature though. When we see God using other people and we are waiting off to the side we have the tendency to take it easy. We want to rest. Sometimes we even get a little discouraged or even mad that we weren’t selected. The point is that while Jesus was up on the mountain the rest of the disciples had their opportunity to minister but they weren’t ready. They weren’t up to the task. The next time you see God using others in great ways or see that others are really learning a lot about the Lord, hang in there. You’ll have your chance but the important thing is to be ready. The important thing is to continue to grow in the faith in the mean time. Sometimes God allows us to go through times when we are not ministering. We should take advantage of these times to grow even more in the word of God and in the faith. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
Mateo 17 cuenta la historia de la transfiguración. Hay muchas cosas que se pueden aprender acerca de que pasó cuando Jesús estaba siendo glorificado mientras que hablaba con Moisés y Elías. Hoy quiero escribir acerca de lo que estaba pasando en el mundo debajo de la montaña mientras que Jesús estaba arriba. Un hombre había traído a su hijo a los discípulos. Estaba buscando apoyo porque su hijo estaba poseído por un demonio. Soy Padre de tres hijos y no puedo imaginar como sería estar en una situación así. El hombre estaba desesperado. Añadiendo a su miseria los discípulos no podían ayudar. Ellos habían expulsado demonios antes pero este caso era demasiado difícil para ellos. No sé exactamente lo que estaban pensando los demás discípulos cuando Jesús llevó a Pedro, Jacobo y Juan al monte con él pero si, se como es el ser humano. Cuando vemos a Dios usando a otra gente y estamos esperando a Dios usarnos a nosotros también tenemos la tendencia a la flojera. Queremos descansar. A veces también nos desanimamos o hasta nos enojamos porque Dios no nos ha escogido a nosotros. Lo que quiero hacerles ver es así, mientras que Jesús estaba en el monte los demás discípulos tuvieron su oportunidad de ministrar pero no estaban listos. No estaban preparados para la tarea. La próxima vez que ves a Dios usando a otros en grandes maneras o que las otras personas están aprendiendo mucho y creciendo en la fe, ten paciencia. Tendrás la oportunidad pero lo más importante es estar listo. Es muy importante seguir creciendo en la fe por mientras. Tenemos que aprovechar de los tiempos cuando no estamos ministrando mucho. Durante de estos tiempos podemos crecer en la palabra y en la fe. La fe viene por el oír y oír la palabra de Dios.

1 Pedro 1:6-9En lo cual vosotros os alegráis, aunque ahora por un poco de tiempo, si es necesario, tengáis que ser afligidos en diversas pruebas,
7 para que sometida a prueba vuestra fe, mucho más preciosa que el oro, el cual aunque perecedero se prueba con fuego, sea hallada en alabanza, gloria y honra cuando sea manifestado Jesucristo,
8 a quien amáis sin haberle visto, en quien creyendo, aunque ahora no lo veáis, os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorioso;
9 obteniendo el fin de vuestra fe, que es la salvación de vuestras almas.
Lynell Waterman cuenta la historia del herrero que, después de una juventud llena de excesos, decidió entregar su alma a Dios. Durante muchos años trabajó con ahínco, practicó la caridad, pero, a pesar de toda su dedicación, nada perecía andar bien en su vida, muy por el contrario: sus problemas y sus deudas se acumulaban día a día.
Una hermosa tarde, un amigo que lo visitaba, y que sentía compasión por su situación difícil, le comentó: “Realmente es muy extraño que justamente después de haber decidido volverte un hombre temeroso de Dios, tu vida haya comenzado a empeorar. No deseo debilitar tu fe, pero a pesar de tus creencias en el mundo espiritual, nada ha mejorado.”
El herrero no respondió enseguida: él ya había pensado en eso muchas veces, sin entender lo que acontecía con su vida, sin embardo, como no deseaba dejar al amigo sin respuesta, comenzó a hablar, y terminó por encontrar la explicación que buscaba. He aquí lo que dijo el herrero: En este taller yo recibo el acero aún sin trabajar, y debo transformarlo en espadas.
¿Sabes tú como se hace esto?
“Primero caliento la chapa de acero a un calor infernal, hasta que se pone al rojo vivo. Enseguida, sin ninguna piedad, tomo el martillo más pesado y la aplico varios golpes, hasta que la pieza adquiere la forma deseada. Luego la sumerjo en un balde de agua fría, y el taller se llena con el ruido y el vapor porque la pieza estalla y grita a causa del violento cambio de temperatura. Tengo que repetir este proceso hasta obtener la espada perfecta: una sola vez no es suficiente.
El herrero hizo una larga pausa, y siguió: A veces, el acero que llega a mis manos no logra soportar este tratamiento. El calor, los martillazos y el agua fría terminan por llenarlo de rajaduras. En ese momento, me doy cuenta de que jamás se transformará en una buena hoja de espada.
Y entonces, simplemente lo dejo en la montaña de fiero viejo que ves a la entrada de mi herrería. Hizo otra pausa más, y el herrero terminó: Sé que Dios me está colocando en el fuego de las aflicciones. Acepto los martillazos que la vida me da, y a veces me siento tan frío e insensible como el agua que hace sufrir al acero. Pero la única cosa que pienso es: “Dios mío, no desistas hasta que yo consiga tomar la forma que tú esperas de mí. Inténtalo de la manera que te parezca mejor, por el tiempo que quieras-pero nunca me pongas en la montaña de fiero viejo de las almas.”

Lynell Waterman tells the story of the blacksmith that, after spending his youth in excesses decided to give his soul to God. Through the years he worked eagerly and was kind. In spite of his dedication nothing seemed to go well in his life. The opposite was occurring. He had many problems and his debts were mounting each day.
One beautiful afternoon a friend visited and was moved with compassion seeing the difficult situation that the blacksmith was in. He said, “It’s really strange that right after became a man that fears God, your life started to get worse. I don’t want to weaken your faith but in spite of your belief in the spiritual world nothing had gotten better.”
The blacksmith didn’t respond right away. He had thought the same thing many times without being able to understand what was happening in his life. He didn’t want to leave his friend without an answer though and so he started to talk. While he spoke he found the answer that he had been looking for. Here’s what he said. In this shop I received the steel before it has been formed. I have to transform it into swords.
Do you know how I do it?
First I heat the sheet of metal until it’s unbearably hot, until it turns bright red. After that without showing any kindness I take the heaviest hammer that I have and I hit it several times until the sheet takes on the form that I want. Afterwards I put the metal into cold water. When I do it the whole shop fills with noise and the vapor rises because the piece bursts and screams due to the violent change of temperature. I have to repeat the process until I get the sword perfect. One time isn’t enough.
The blacksmith paused for quite a while and continued. “Sometimes the steel that I gets into my hands can’t bear the treatment. The heat, the blows of the hammer and the cold water fill the steel with cracks. At that moment I see that the steel that I have will never become a good sword. When that happens I leave that piece in the mountain of old iron that you see in the entrance of the shop.” He paused again and finished saying, “I know that God is putting me through the fire of affliction. I accept the beatings that life gives me. Sometimes I feel so cold and with feeling like the cold water that makes the metal suffer. When that happens I think, “My God, don’t stop until I am able to take the form that you want me to be. Do it the way and in the time that you that seems best to you but don’t ever put me on that mountain of old iron of souls."

Pescando Fishing
Esta mañana enseñé Mateo 17. Al final del capítulo Pedro se equivoca. Los cobradores de impuestos para el templo le preguntaron si Jesús pagaba el impuesto del templo o no. Pedro contestó que si. Cristo le explica que no tenía porque pagar porque los hijos del rey no pagan los impuestos. Luego Jesús le manda a Pedro pescar con un anzuelo. Pedro era pescador. Estaba acostumbrado a pescar con redes y pescar muchos pescados a la vez. Tal vez para Pedro era algo aburrido pescar con anzuelo pero obedeció y encontró la moneda para pagar el impuesto.A veces Dios nos manda a hacer algo que parece ser insignificativo. Varias veces atravez de los años he preparado por un estudio bíblico pensando que iban a llegar un buen número de personas. Pensé que iba a contar con un buen número de pescados y solo una persona ha llegado. Solo un pez. Siempre he encontrado bendiciones en los momentos así. He pensado en la obediencia a pasar del aburrimiento y terminado bendecido.
Cuando Dios nos manda a obedecer en las cosas pequeñas siempre encontramos una monedita que da valor a todo. Nuestro Dios es capaz de enseñarnos cuando da de comer a 5 mil personas con unos pescaditos y pancitos y es capaz de enseñarnos cuando nos manda echar el anzuelo en el agua buscando un solo pescado.
Pensándolo bien… hace mucho tiempo que no he podido salir a pescar. Jesús, si me quieres mandar a pescar con anzuelo, está bien. Estoy listo. (Estoy hablando de pescado, no de personas, pesco personas a cada rato y también me gusta).
I taught Matthew 17 this morning. Peter makes a mistake at the end of the chapter. The temple tax collectors ask him if Jesus pays the temple tax or not. Peter says “yes”. Christ explains that he didn’t have to pay the temple tax because the children of the king don’t pay taxes. Afterwards Jesus sends Peter fishing with a hook. Peter was a fisherman. He was used to fishing with nets and catching large quantities of fish. Maybe Peter thought that fishing with a hook was boring but he obeyed and found the coin needed to pay the tax.
Sometimes God sends us to do something that seems insignificant. Various times throughout the years I have prepared bible studies thinking that a good number of people would be there. I thought I was going to be able to count a good number of fish and only one person arrived, only one fish. I have always found blessings in moments like this. I’ve tried to be obedient even though it could mean being a little bored and have ended up blessed. When God asks us to obey in a small thing we will always find a little coin that makes everything worth it. Our God is able to teach us when he gives food to 5 thousand men using a few small fish and a few small pieces of bread. He’s able to teach us by sending us out with one hook to look for one fish too.
Come to think of it Lord… it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to go fishing. Anytime you want to send me out to wet a line I’m ready to go. (I’m talking about fishing for fish not for men. I fish for men all the time and I like that too.)
Llegaron a Estudiar They came to Study
Two young guys showed up to church this morning for the first time. They came with books in hand. They weren’t Bibles, they were English books. They came to practice their English. English classes are a great way to outreach to the community. We are praying for people to come and minister with us as English teachers. The great thing is that we already have some materials. The materials that we have teach English using games, conversation and the Bible. We just need teachers. Pray with us about this.
Dos jóvenes llegaron a la iglesia esta mañana por la primera vez. Vinieron con libros en la mano. No trajeron Biblias, sino libros de inglés. Vinieron a practicar el inglés. Dictar clases de Ingles es una buena forma de alcanzar a la gente de la comunidad. Estamos orando para que vengan personas a ministrar con nosotros como profesores de inglés. Lo bueno es que ya tenemos materiales. Los materiales utilizan juegos, conversación y la Biblia. Los que nos faltan son los profesores. Oren con nosotros acerca de esto.

Ya regresamos We're back
In the last blog that I wrote I mentioned that we were going on vacation as a family. We had a great time and we didn’t go on vacation from the Lord. Betty continued doing home school lessons in the morning and we went to the beach in the afternoon. The weather was great. It wasn’t too hot or too cold and the water temperature was refreshing. Marco and I chased dolphins on our body boards. One day and Anna learned how to use a body board in calm water. I was also able to share my testimony with a guy named Feliciano. He is a Hari Krishna. He seemed pretty open to what I shared, in fact he even brought up the topic. He works at the hostel where we stayed. He observed our family over a period of days and noticed that we were very different and started asking me why. I hope that we will be able to go back and minister to him again in the future. I want to minister to a few other guys that we met too. They are Nacho, Raul and Antonio.
Another thing that I mentioned in the last blog was that last Saturday I prayed with a woman that really needed a job. I forgot to mention that I met her on the street on Monday and she was just returning from a job interview. They gave her the job and she was going to start working on Tuesday. Thanks Lord.
En el ultimo blog que escribí mencioné que íbamos a tomar un tiempo de vacaciones con la familia. Pasamos un tiempo lindo pero no tomamos vacaciones de Dios. Betty hizo las clases con los niños en las mañanas y fuimos a la playa en las tardes. El clima estaba buenazo. Ni muy frío ni muy caliente y el agua estaba muy refrescante. Marco y yo intentamos alcanzar a los delfines usando nuestros body boards. Un día Anna aprendió usar el body board en agua tranquila. Pude compartir mi testimonio con un tipo que se llama Feliciano. Es un Hari Krishna. Parece que estaba abierto a lo que le compartí, es más, él es el que tocó el tema. El trabaja en el hostal donde nos quedamos. Observaba a nuestra familia durante unos días y se dio cuenta que éramos diferentes. Preguntó ¿Por qué? Espero poder volver a compartir más con él en el futuro. También quiero ministrar a unos cuantos más como a Nacho, Raúl y Antonio.
Otra cosa que mencioné en el blog es que el sábado oré por una señora porque necesitaba un trabajo. El Lunes, me encontré con ella en la calle. Estaba regresando de una entrevista. Le dieron el trabajo y tenía que comenzar el martes. Gracias Señor.

Perdónenme Forgive Me
Se que hay personas que leen nuestro blog todos los días. Discúlpenme por no haber escrito algo en los últimos días. El sábado fuimos a Villa Maria como todos los sábados y pasamos un tiempo lindo con los niños y adultos. Oré por una mujer en el parque que se congrega con nosotros. Ella necesitaba un trabajo y estaba muy desesperada. El día domingo enseñé en la iglesia en Surco en la mañana. Después de almorzar con la gente y conversar con algunos salimos Betty y yo. Pasamos la noche en un hotel cerca. Como muchos saben, vivimos en la iglesia y es importante salir de vez en cuando. Hace tiempo que no lo hacemos. Ahora estoy en la casa y mañana saldremos como familia por unos 4 días más de vacaciones. Son las primeras vacaciones que hemos tenido en 2 años. Necesitamos pasar un tiempo entre familia pero no pensamos en tomar vacaciones de Dios. Dios mediante, estaré estudiando la palabra y orando más con mis hijos etc. También estaremos atentos a lo que Dios querrá hacer. Tal vez podremos compartir la fe con alguien en estos días. Que oren por nosotros. Creo que no voy a poner nada nuevo en el blog esta semana entonces.

On Saturday we went to Villa Maria as usual and had a nice time sharing with the children and the adults. I prayed for a lady that has been fellowshipping there with us. She needed a job and was getting pretty desperate. On Sunday I taught in the church in Surco in the morning. After eating lunch with the people and conversing with some of them Betty y I left. We spent the night in a hotel not too far away. As many of you know, we live in the church and it’s important to get out once and a while. It’s been quite a while since we’ve done it. Right now I’m back in the house and tomorrow I will be leaving with the family for 4 days of vacation. It will be the first vacation we have had in two years. We need some time together as a family but we aren’t planning to take a vacation away from God. God willing I’ll be studying the word and praying more with my children, etc. We’ll be attentive to whatever else God might want to do too. Maybe we’ll be able to share our faith with someone in the next few days. Pray for us. I don’t think that I’ll be writing anything new for the blog this week.

Esta tarde nuestros amigos Arturo y Luz se casan en la playa. Estamos muy contentos por los dos. Ha sido lindo ver lo que Dios ha hecho en la vida de Luz en los últimos años. Ver que se casa hoy con un hombre tan bueno es una bendición de Dios. No conocemos a Arturo tanto tiempo como a Luz pero le queremos igual. Sabemos que es un hombre que ama a Dios mucho y realmente ha llegado a ser parte de la familia de Koinonia. ¿Quién hubiese pensado que Dios iba a hacer algo tan maravilloso. Gracias Señor.

This afternoon our friends Arturo and Luz are getting married at the beach. We’re so happy for them. It’s been beautiful to see what God has done in Luz’s life in the last few years. To see that she will be married to such a great guy is a blessing from God. We haven’t known Arturo for as long as we’ve known Luz but we love him as much. We know that he is a man that loves God a lot and he’s really gotten to be part of the Koinonia family. Who would have thought that God would do something so marvelous? Thanks Lord.

El Bautismo del Espíritu Santo The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Ayer mencioné que el Espíritu Santo bautizó a la gente en el día de Pentecostés y 3000 personas entregaron sus vidas a Cristo. Los discípulos comenzaron a predicar la palabra de Dios con denuedo después del bautismo en el Espíritu Santo. Recibieron dones de lenguas, profecía, y muchos otros pero lo más importante es que recibieron poder para testificar acerca de Cristo. ¿Cómo está tu relación con el Espíritu Santo? ¿Está el Espíritu de Dios fluyendo en tu vida dándote el poder para testificar o predicar su palabra? Si hay un contador que indica la llanura del Espíritu en nuestra vida es si estamos compartiendo nuestra fe o no.

The disciples began to preach the word of God with boldness after the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They received gifts of tongues, prophecy and many others as well but the most important thing is that they received power to testify for Christ. How is your relationship with the Holy Spirit? Is the Spirit of God flowing in your life? Is He giving you the power to testify o preach His word? If there is a meter that measures the filling of the Spirit in our lives this would be it, if we are sharing our faith or not.

Dios contestó God answered
¡Dios es Chévere!
Escribí en el blog acerca de la necesidad de más obreros. Seguimos con la necesidad pero algo mostro pasó hoy. Aproximadamente una hora después de escribir la petición un amigo de California nos llamó por teléfono. Su nombre es Toby. Toby está estudiando en el instituto bíblico este semestre igual que el año pasado. Toby se quedó con nosotros durante de vacaciones en Diciembre, Enero y los primeros días de Febrero. Bueno, ya estoy desviando del tema un poco. Toby llamó para preguntar si necesitábamos apoyo en Puente Piedra hoy y si podía ir con nosotros. Llegó más tarde con un amigo que también es estudiante. Su nombre es Seth. Los dos fueron con nosotros y apoyaron bastante. Otra cosa es que Americo nos avisó el domingo que no podía ir hoy tampoco pero por un cambio de planes llegó también. ¡Que bueno es Dios!
God is really cool.
I wrote about our need for more workers in the blog earlier today. We still need more workers for the long haul but something really cool happened today. Approximately one hour after I wrote asking for prayer a friend of ours from California called. His name is Toby. Toby is studying at the Bible College this semester like last year. Toby stayed with us during the months of December, January and part of February while on vacation. Well I’m getting off track here a little bit. Toby called to ask if we needed any help in Puente Piedra today and if he could go with us. He arrived later with a friend named Seth. Seth is studying at the Bible College too. They were a big help. Another thing is that Americo had told us on Sunday that he wouldn’t be able to go today but because of a change in plans he made it too. God is so good!

Vamos a Puente Piedra mas tarde. La gente de la iglesia está siendo bendecida con trabajo. Mas trabajo para la gente es bueno pero también significa que hay menos gente que puede ayudar con los ministerios. Gracias a Dios tenemos lo suficiente para continuar haciendo lo básico pero seguimos orando por más obreros. Hay tanto que hacer.
Mientras que un grupo ministra en Puente Piedra otro grupo estará ministrando en Cañete. Los miércoles estamos ocupados ministrando a los niños y los adultos. Le damos gracias a Dios por los que sirven fielmente en los ministerios.

37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.38 “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

We’re going to Puente Piedra later today. The people of the church have been blessed with more work. More work is such a blessing but it also means that there are less people that are available to help with the ministries here. Thanks to the Lord we have enough people to continue with the basic ministry but we continue praying for laborers. There is so much to do.

La Escuela de Discipulado The Discipleship School
Aquí encuentras unas fotos de la clase de discipulado del sábado pasado. Este sábado que viene les toca comenzar a estudiar las epístolas pastorales con Pastor Jaime. Oren por los alumnos por favor. Algo Mostro Something really cool
Something really cool that happened this morning… My 9 year old son Marco was on the phone with his friend Jonathan. He was calling him to make sure that he was coming to church. Marco led his friend Jonathan to the Lord on Christmas Eve. Thanks Lord.

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate my daughter Anna’s 7th birthday. Her birthday is actually today but we wanted to start early. As we were at the table eating Anna was remembering that she received the Lord when she was 4. She was asking us if we remembered what the date was when she received the Lord. Priscilla our youngest daughter mentioned that she was so happy because she has received the Lord too. She received Him a few weeks ago. Priscilla will be 4 later this month. Marco received the Lord when he was four too. He’s 9 years old now. He got confused for a minute though. He said, “I know that my birthday is the 30th of September. Is that my spiritual birthday or my regular birthday? I know that my spiritual birthday is more important.
Praise the Lord for children that know that Lord at such a young age.
Salmo 128:1-6

Anoche fuimos a comer en un restaurante porque estábamos celebrando el cumpleaños de mi hija Anna que cumple 7 años hoy. Salimos anoche porque queríamos comenzar a celebrar antes. Mientras que estábamos sentados en la mesa comiendo, Anna estaba recordando que recibió a Cristo como su Señor y Salvador cuando tenía 4 años. Ella nos preguntó si recordamos la fecha exacta o no. Nuestra menor, Priscilla mencionó que ella estaba muy contenta por haber recibido a Cristo en su corazón también. Ella recibió a Cristo en su corazón hace unas semanas atrás. Priscilla va a cumplir 4 años mas tarde en este mes de Febrero. Marco recibió a Cristo cuando tenía 4 años también. Ahora tiene 9 años. Marco se confundió por un momento. Dijo, “Se que nací el 30 de Setiembre. ¿El 30 de Setiembre es cuando nací físicamente o espiritualmente? Se que mi cumpleaños espiritual es mas importante que mi cumpleaños normal.”
Alabado sea Dios por niños que conocen a Cristo desde muy temprana edad.
1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.
2 When you eat the labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
3 Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate my daughter Anna’s 7th birthday. Her birthday is actually today but we wanted to start early. As we were at the table eating Anna was remembering that she received the Lord when she was 4. She was asking us if we remembered what the date was when she received the Lord. Priscilla our youngest daughter mentioned that she was so happy because she has received the Lord too. She received Him a few weeks ago. Priscilla will be 4 later this month. Marco received the Lord when he was four too. He’s 9 years old now. He got confused for a minute though. He said, “I know that my birthday is the 30th of September. Is that my spiritual birthday or my regular birthday? I know that my spiritual birthday is more important.

Rumbo a la panadería esta mañana vi una señorita drogada. Estaba tocando el timbre de una casa en la avenida Benavides. Un chico le estaba esperando en una camioneta tipo van. Seguí la ruta hasta llegar a la panadería. Compré el pan y salí rumbo a la casa. En camino vi a un Señor en el segundo piso de su casa. Tenía allí su virgencita y estaba limpiándola tan cuidadosamente. Parecía hacerle caricias a la estatua. Por supuesto ya estaba prendida la velita. Recordé Romanos 1:21 hasta el final del capítulo.
21 Pues habiendo conocido a Dios, no le glorificaron como a Dios, ni le dieron gracias, sino que se envanecieron en sus razonamientos, y su necio corazón fue entenebrecido.
22 Profesando ser sabios, se hicieron necios,
23 y cambiaron la gloria del Dios incorruptible en semejanza de imagen de hombre corruptible, de aves, de cuadrúpedos y de reptiles.
24 Por lo cual también Dios los entregó a la inmundicia, en las concupiscencias de sus corazones, de modo que deshonraron entre sí sus propios cuerpos,
25 ya que cambiaron la verdad de Dios por la mentira, honrando y dando culto a las criaturas antes que al Creador, el cual es bendito por los siglos. Amén.
26 Por esto Dios los entregó a pasiones vergonzosas; pues aun sus mujeres cambiaron el uso natural por el que es contra naturaleza,
27 y de igual modo también los hombres, dejando el uso natural de la mujer, se encendieron en su lascivia unos con otros, cometiendo hechos vergonzosos hombres con hombres, y recibiendo en sí mismos la retribución debida a su extravío.
28 Y como ellos no aprobaron tener en cuenta a Dios, Dios los entregó a una mente reprobada, para hacer cosas que no convienen;
29 estando atestados de toda injusticia, fornicación, perversidad, avaricia, maldad; llenos de envidia, homicidios, contiendas, engaños y malignidades;
30 murmuradores, detractores, aborrecedores de Dios, injuriosos, soberbios, altivos, inventores de males, desobedientes a los padres,
31 necios, desleales, sin afecto natural, implacables, sin misericordia;
32 quienes habiendo entendido el juicio de Dios, que los que practican tales cosas son dignos de muerte, no sólo las hacen, sino que también se complacen con los que las practican.
Vi dos extremos del pecado esta mañana. Realmente las dos personas que vi están en la misma situación. Están cegadas porque no conocen a Cristo en una forma real. Señor, te entrego hoy día. Quiero ser luz en medio de las tinieblas. Gracias por salvarme.

I was on my way to the bread bakery this morning when I saw a young lady on drugs. She was ringing the doorbell of a house on Benavides avenue. It seems to me that she was a prostitute. There was a guy waiting for her in a van. I continued on my way. I bought the bread and started on my way home. On the way I saw a man on the second floor of his house. He was cleaning his little Virgin Mary statue in a way that made it look almost as if he was showing her how much he loved her. He had already lit the candle for her. I remembered Romans 1:21 until the end of the chapter
Romans 1:21-32
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers,30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
I saw two extremes of sin this morning but really the two people that I saw are in the same situation. They don’t know the Lord in a real and living way. Lord, I offer you my life again today. I want to be light in the midst of darkness. Thanks for saving me.

I get tired Me cansa
Matthew 18:15-16
15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.16 “But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’[1]
I have to confess that one of the things that I get tired of is when people from the church come to me because of some type of misunderstanding they have had with another member of the body. Someone said something that they shouldn’t have said, someone did something wrong. Someone, someone, someone did something, something, something. I always ask if the person that is coming to me has talked to the other person about it yet. 99% of the time they tell me, “no”. They just want to know what they should do first. They don’t want to talk to the person about it directly because it’s a delicate situation, therefore they think it’s better to talk to a third party person (the pastor) first.
Jesus is so clear. He tells us to go and talk to the one that has offended first. We are to do it alone. If they don’t listen then we should bring it to the attention of another person that will be able to get involved and help the two people work it out. Your case is not an exception to the rule! Jesus told us to look for a solution to the problem, to look for restoration this way. He told us to do it person to person first because sin, offenses and misunderstandings are always sensitive issues. I know that it takes courage to do it. I know that you’re worried about how everything will turn out. Do it anyway trusting the Lord to help you. Go in humbleness asking for the Lord to show you if you have both been wrong. May God give you restoration.

15Por tanto, si tu hermano pecare contra ti, ve, y redargúyele entre ti y él solo: si te oyere, has ganado á tu hermano.
16Mas si no te oyere, toma aún contigo uno ó dos, para que en boca de dos ó de tres testigos conste toda palabra.
Tengo que confesar que una de las cosas que me cansa es cuando una persona de la iglesia se me acerca para hablar de un mal entendido que ha ocurrido entre la persona que está en mi presencia y a otra persona que forma parte del cuerpo de Cristo. Alguien ha dicho algo que no debía decir, alguien ha hecho algo mal. Alguien, alguien alguien, hizo algo, algo, algo. Siempre pregunto a la persona que está conmigo si ha hablado con la otra persona acerca de tema ya. 99% de las veces me dicen que no. Solo quieren saber que hacer primero. No quieren hablar con la persona cara a cara porque se trata de algo delicado, entonces prefieren hablar con una persona ajena (el pastor) primero.
Jesús está claro. Nos dice que tenemos que ir y hablar con la persona que ha ofendido primero. Tenemos que hacerlo a solas con él. Si no nos quieren escuchar recién entonces debemos buscar a otra persona para que la persona no pueda ayudar a solucionar el problema y llegar a la restauración. ¡El caso tuyo no es la excepción a la regla! Jesús nos dijo que tenemos que buscar una solución, buscar la restauración así. Nos dijo que tenemos que hacerlo persona a persona, cara a cara porque el pecado, las ofensas y los mal entendidos siempre son situaciones delicadas. Sé que requiere coraje para hacerlo. Se que estás preocupado acerca de cómo va a terminar todo. Hazlo de todas maneras confiando en el Señor y sabiendo que é te va a ayudar. Debes ir con mucha humildad pidiendo al Señor mostrarte si has estado mal igual que tu hermano. Que Dios te conceda la restauración.
